Rehab used for fans, food, drinks, blankets you name it. All in the name of keeping the ff's fueled during a long stay at the scene.

Because the call was in 16's area. They would have been next in line to go to the scene had another engine company been called for. Therefore, they were assigned rehab duties. Because they were so far away, that gave me enough time to scurry on over & get them! Thanks for watching!

The leading cause of firefighter death is heart attack. When there is a full on fire firefighters get worn out fairly quickly because they are wearing about 70 lbs of gear including their protective coat and trousers -- that are insulated. In the summer months a firefighter can quickly become dehydrated and worse. A good rehab unit should provide hydration, active and passive cooling, nutrition, and medical monitoring. In fact OSHA requires rehab to be available to firefighters. Thus, the rehab unit.

Is it a canteen unit? For food & drink? Or medical rehab? We have both where i live in Wisconsin. We call the canteen club: Racine Fire Bells. Strictly non-profit volunteer club. I was in it for 11 years. Retired from it for new horizons/opportunities in life

It has a light bar. It has side lights & rear lights. They are strobes so the camera doesn't pick them up as well.

It responds on all 2nd alarm fires and any incident where crews are on scene for extended periods of time. It provides drinks, fans, blankets etc.

Usually in the City of Hartford Fire department has four engines at the fire scene if there's a confirmed fire then the 5 engine company will be responding along with the Rehab bus two men withthe engine 2 men with the rehab bus.

It wasn't escorted. I'll tell you: Rehab is not manned. Therefore, an engine company has to drive over to station 11 so one guy can jump off & drive rehab to the scene. For whatever reason, the engine always goes first.

Most rehabs that I have seen do respond code. I think there is a need for that. Over heated, over worked firemen need treatment so they can get back to the scene.

+ohwaddafook you have no clue how many fire calls Hartford gets and there smart ask any of there guys they rotate guys very quickly but if something should happen that bus is more than a rehab from what I have been told go past it all the time ........every fire dept is different what is good for Hartford may not be good in another city

+Mike Kaefer it's not what is good for each city, I'm just thinking liability issues, if they hit a pedestrian or ran a red light a hit someone, that department would be screwed, lawyers would ask, why was a rehab unit running code? why is a non certified emergency vehicle running code? why was does it not have more lights on it and better identification like It being painted red? I totally get where you're coming from my friend, I know policies differ from department to department and I Don't know what to the situation was, but in my eyes it's putting civilian lives at risk and I'd hate to see a good department get nailed for something small like that

I believe it is indeed certified. And it has plenty of lights. My camera just didn't pick up all of the flashes.
