this is great cine film. it shows the gowland family holiday film of the 1950's. it shows the headland carnival parade and funfair. also seaton carew fairground. a very good movie and never seen film footage.
I remember so vividly almost every scene in this video from my childhood years, exactly as shown here. What is incredible is that my wife Elizabeth Tarpey is in the short clip in the carnival parade showing the Rodney Royals Jazz Band, matching along with her Kazoo when she was just 8 years old. Thank you so much for sharing your family memories and also for letting so many more people re-live their memories.
Glimpses into the past like these are very very special, this, and the others you have posted are priceless. Thank you.........very very much, I've got a smile from ear to ear and I've got big ears!
Almost certainly this was taken by Mr. Walter Gowland. A fine man who lived along with his family, Norrie, Peter and Keith who lived in Warden St. between Alma and Sheriff St. Now long gone sadly. Really enjoyed seeing them and bringing back wonderful memories. Thanks for a simply wonderful upload Michael.
Thank you so much for uploading this, the other Gowland family films and the Ridley Scott. I grew up in Old Hartlepool and Foggy Furze in the 50s and 60s and these films echo my own memories so much. Industrial grime and noise but also the seaside! The red busses and the blue busses! You leave your youth behind, you move away but it never leaves you!
Brought back many memories of holidays at my grandad's. Was only telling someone about the parade & fair the other day. Glad I saw the date when they were on. great to see a film like that thanks
This reminds me of my late Granda Tedd who used to take us all up to the shows up at Seaton Carew back in the 60's when we were kids We did not live in town back then, so the seaside was a treat.
Is it just me, or was the weather much nicer then. I remember my late Granda taking us up to Seaton fairground in the mid 60's and the weather always seemed to be nice. Liked that bit of animation at the end, very good.
Thank you so much for sharing this bit of old film with us. Hartlepool is a great town and every bit of promotion we can get is justified. I remenber the Carnival well from my childhood.
Hi, I hope this isn't any kind of intrusion by any means to you, but I had a few questions about the time period that I've not been able to find online anywhere else. So, I wanted to know if I could maybe pick your brain about somethings about living in that time?
Fantastic film that evoked many wonderful memories of growing up in Hartlepool in the 1950's. The Headland is still recognisable today. Thank you for sharing this film.

@@hughnguyen9831 if I can help you in any way I will. I was born in 1949 in Durham Street and lived in Hartlepool until 1973. However I always returned regularly to see family and still do.
@@TheJensvids Thank you so much for offering to help me! My name is Hugh and I'm 19 years old. Why I'm asking is because I've been working on a little story that takes place in Hartlepool in the mid 1950s or even the 1960s. I've yet to decide which decade. If you have an email that I could message you on, I would be more than happy to message you there. For me, it seems a bit odd to be asking you details about your life through a RU-vid comment section. And I have many questions I'd like to ask. Thank you again!
Geez...I couldnt imagine going to Hartlepool for ANYTHING let alone Holidays😲 Just a few minutes on Seaton Carew beach did it for me I always wondered why Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor never moved there? 😭
@@HPOOLDRUMS Mike. Ask your mam if she or hers, remember Jacqueline Rhymer in their generation. Born around 1942. Went to Owton Manor Primary school. I did too (Malcolm Carson) Left there in '58 for the Army and a Trade. I believe she married or lived with a Scottist seaman in the Merch,(ant Navy)
And so has every town and City. Just a shame people like you post futile messages like this one . You just get back to watching Jeremy Kyle and supping special brew !!
