I graduated from Harvard Law School in 2010 and I'll tell you all now that It really isn't that big of a deal. You meet a lot of great people and professors and can join hundreds of clubs, but campus wise, it is not a phenomenal structure of insurmountable greatness that everybody seems to think that it is. Yale is actually a prettier campus in my opinion where I went to earn my Business degree.
I want to go there so bad, it's the most prestigious college in my eyes and it would be an honor to even step foot within the campus walls. And if I were to go to such a place to take a course I would be set for life. Btw I am in 9th grade with a college ready attitude and I also have my mind set on being a surgeon :).
Try to get in the SSP program next year, it is 2 months long and you can take 2 courses that you like it's awesome.. and BTW I'm a Harvard student right now and I never thought that I'll be one,so never give up.
I personally think Princeton has a nicer campus. It's significantly more quiet, doesn't have that dreadful red brick(that's more of a personal opinion), and there is much more plant life and greenery. The only downside to Princeton is that it is in a really small town, but NYC and Philidelphia are about an hour drive away so I don't think it's that much of an issue. If being located in an urban area is much more important to you than being in a nicer campus, but in a smaller town, then I would whole-heartedly recommend Harvard over Princeton.
I'm young (14) and I've been excited for college. The fact of being on your own and doing your own thing just seems awesome. I spend some of my time just walking around my local university (USM). Thanks for the video!
Universities like Harvard are dream for every student! But still I am quite happy and satisfied with the quality of education that we are getting in India from past few years. The level of education over here has been upgraded by a no. of good private institutions joining the pool of central and government universities that provide quality education and extensive course curriculam. Thanks you Ryry for your honest input. So many of the other people who don't even go to Harvard seem to think it's blasphemous to not praise everything about the university including its campus and social life.
It takes a lot to get into harvard. Remember that. Start getting familiar with the SAT, advanced placement classes, GPA, volunteering, clubs and organizations, athletics, all of these things can improve your chances of getting into this school.
Michelle Gibson make yourself stand out from everyone else. have a reason why they should choose you out of everyone else. If you work hard you can do it.
Harvard seems amazing. I love the building design, and the landscape. Though, since I am not that good with school (i'm not that bad :P) I probably won't ever attend there.
Thats to a certain extent, I believe the people should get a dowry that provides the necessities like twenty thousand a year or so, after that one should work.
I do not Know how and when ...but I severely need to be a student of Harvard in my field of AIS.MBA,Information Science fields with a masters and PhD level .
@davtor33 I actually think Harvard is great school. I don't hate it. I merely pointed out, the buildings and weather are not impressive compared to what I'm used to seeing out here in Southern California.
lol, the fact that you wouldn't go to Harvard because "there's not enough sunlight" based on a 1-day tour is a good indication that Harvard probably wouldn't want you and your reasoning skills. Pro tip: weather can change from day to day.
First thing, I'll be attending Harvard and it's perfectly fine that it's not your taste of culture or weather. I live in SoCal and very much dislike the people. But others like it and that's fine. What I want to say though is that I learned one major thing from this video: BOY, there is a lot of noise pollution there. Or are your microphones that sensitive? Anyway, thanks for the video. It showed the realism of being there, and that's the most important part.
It really is that loud, even in the evening. Inside the walls it is a bit more peaceful, and the dorms and buildings are neat and well tended. Consider yourself honored to be at Harvard, despite the tours, traffic noise and busyness of the general area.
I think Caltech gets the best ratings overall these days, but you really can't go wrong with any of Caltech, Oxford, Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Cambridge, Yale, etc.; the usual suspects.

Ryan Jablonski You've obviously come and gone by now, but for anyone else's reference, they only lock the gates of the yard for commencement so no one without a ticket can sneak in. It used to be that the Science Building was open 24 hours, and the Library up at the Radcliffe Quad. Don't remember about he tour, but it's free and worth the time.
To base it off weather conditions is completely ridiculous. Harvard is the oldest, most refined institution of higher learning in the world. It's produced the most nobel peace prize winners, billionaires, and presidents than any other college. How can they base college choices off of looks on one particular day? I think they don't want to attend simply because they don't have what it takes to be accepted into such a prestigious university
Not everyone goes to a particular college for the same reasons. You wrongly assume that Harvard is the best school because of your criteria you have in a school. It's common knowledge that weather in Boston or Cambridge is terrible. I did not base my commentary of the weather on just one day. However, the weather that day illustrated my view very well.
i always knew that harvard was supposed to be mellow but it looks down right dreary on that campus. everyone is just slugging around lifelessly. do they have parties there ever? ofcourse parties should never be the reason u attend a school but if they do have parties then it would give me an idea of how serious student life is there.
This is old fashioned cities and universities.. this was beautiful cities and universities between 1680 - 1880 .. now it becomes low class and not modernized we need universities and cities compatible with iPhone touch not cities and universities compatible with old huge black phone .. this cities and universities built for industrial era we are in satellite era

You are also factually inaccurate. Harvard is not the oldest, most refined institution of higher learning in the world. Actually the University of Bologna and University of Oxford are both older than Harvard.

You dont choose a school for how it looks. you choose it from an academic point of view. Old? Perhaps because it has got an interesting history. It is an extreme honor to be accepted to Harvard. Just look at how many applicants they receive each year.
Usama Khan I've talked to people from Oxford, and they say that American Universities require a broader, more comprehensive curriculum, especially at the graduate level where the Oxford system requires them to have a very narrow focus.

Wow, does this guy know nothin'Widener Library is the largest private library in the country; the "other" libraries include the Houghton Rare Books library to which scholars come from around the world. The Peabody National Science Museum may not be particularly exciting to tourists but has a huge number of specimen of rocks and minerals, animal skeletons, insects and birds that, once again draws researchers from around the world. And if you come to Harvard you get to work with all of these resources and more. The yellow building you saw for a brief glimpse was the Longfellow House, where George Washington had his Boston headquarters. Too bad you missed the only Corbusier buiilding in North America-- the Art Department--right next to the famous Fogg Art Museum. Harvard is defiitely not for everyone, but living in Silicon Valley, I laugh at the claims of Stanford's "historical buildings" and academic resources. And fella, I can tell by your superficiality and lack of research that you ain't Harvard material, so it's a choice you won't have to make.

Are those the values and priorities of a UCLA education?Did you check out the careers of even 1% of all of the 81,000 alumni of the Harvard Business School before making your arrogant generalization? They don't teach the rules of logical, ethical argument at UCLA either?
jegraham440 Frankly, I wasn't expecting much of a response on youtube from my videos at the time as there was never a basis to believe people would watch. The fact that it has now received over 100k views shows I did something right to get people to watch. Not every opinion formed requires hours of research to perform. Some are common sense. You are free to go make your own video of Harvard and give a tour if it matters that much to you. To me, I really don't care if you disagree with my opinions one bit.
