@@pranjalsoni549 Such all rounders aren't very common tbh, maybe 1-2 per top tier college but still. She's like the WHOLE package of looks, talent and intelligence. And not to start a controversy or anything, but Harvard is more difficult to get into than IIT and she was the only one in that year from India to get selected.

Harvard >> IITs any day no cap. In the end u get what u ..... deserve. We got a lot to learn smh.

@@pranathiravikumar6495 yup it's great you are in 11th grade :) and I am in 10th grade and literally, I am also a Harvard/Ivy league aspirant ... making into these universities is really tough but ek baar hojaye to zindagi sukoon mein hai and yesterday I took 1 resolution that now I will indulge in every extracurricular activity and start writing the essays as much as I could so by the time of applying to Harvard I am perfect and after the boards I will start preparing for the SAT and ACT as well as TOEFL so those people have no option to reject me .....*ab kuch zindagi mein kuch krke dikhana hai boriyat hogyi is zindagi se*

@@CR_1471 The fact that you're taking initiative is great, but there are other factors too. Doing all the extracurriculars that you can won't give you an advantage, it'll only reduce your chances- especially because you're going into junior year and you only have two more years of HS left. The trial and error method shouldn't be used after 10th because by then you should be focusing only on the ECs that you're genuinely passionate about. Ivy leagues don't want a laundry list of all the ECs and clubs you've been involved in, they want to see the fields you stand out in. So instead of trying to do everything that you come across (which is something a well rounded student would do, and Ivy leagues DON'T want well rounded students, they want a well rounded CLASS) concentrate on the ECs you're already participating in and try to contribute to your community with the skill set you've already developed in the first two years of HS. That's what's ideal- freshman and sophomore years for experimentation, junior and senior years for honing your skills and perfecting them. If you start experimenting in junior year, you're not gonna be able to focus on stuff that would actually make your application stand out in a pile of 40000+ applications.

@@CR_1471 ahhh! Same, me too. I'm doing the IBDP for 11th and 12th grade and I'm focusing on guitar, keyboard and tennis as my ECs along with Bharatnatya. Agar ek baar boards khatam ho jaye, to fir hamara college grind shuruuu...!

Yo! Ca dropout here. Joined Amazon, left after 2yrs and started my own business. Earning 50 lakhs a year. Success comes sooner or later but you gotta focus on anything you love to work on and never lose faith!

aww thank you!! GREAT question - so I carried essentials with me back to India, but had to leave most of my stuff there :( Harvard arranged to do a donation drive for a bunch of things, so I left stickers on everything I wanted donated. The sofa bed I arranged to put in a storage, which I'm going to give to a friend when they move to Boston. For freshmen and other classes, some put it in personal storage or stored it at friends' houses. For students on full financial aid, they provided some assistance as well!

whether or not you're on financial aid you have the same access to dorms! my first year dorm was shared bathrooms, this was mainly the perk of being a final year student :)

They are only optional for subject sats not for the original one with the combined( maths and English paper). Though some colleges are accepting subject sats and some aren’t . But the sat test with the maths and English paper is completely mandatory for applying for universities.

@@Amitgupta-uq2up actually, that's incorrect. A lot of colleges have gone test optional for the Classes of '25 and '26, ie, for the admission cycles of 2020-21 and 2021-22, including Harvard. You don't need SAT/ACT or TOEFL/IELTS to apply to Harvard now. It's entirely optional.

@@Amitgupta-uq2up grades for 9th finals, 10th boards, 11th finals and 12th midterms, extracurricular activities and awards, honours (any academic awards etc), essays and recommendation letters (from two teachers and from school counselor/other school official.) The school counselor/other school official also has to submit your official transcripts (or report cards) for the aforementioned grades. These are what comprise your entire application, other than supplement materials. The admissions officers rate you on a scale of 1-5 for the following: academics, activities, personal qualities, essays, recommendations and interviews. There's also apparently a section for athletics but that's only for athletes.

You get some of the furniture for free. Stuffs like bed, study table, cupboard are already present in your room. However, you can add your own furnitures if you want.

I've lived half my life between both! Early years in the US, middle and high school in India. For application purposes, was considered "properly" from India :)
