i was writing a 20-page seminar report and I was hating my the citation and everything related to it until I came into this video.... love it :) thanks a lot
Thank you. I wish referencing was made a subject in its own right. Anyway, we have you now, you have done a much better job at explaining this dry area. I was awake through out the lesson!!
Well, Mark Cholij did leave an impression in me. I liked his presentation as he took his time in explanning how and what to do. Appreciate this help for my own assignment. Thank you Vijiananth
Excellent video on Academic Writing Skills by Mr Cholij. I would definitely recommend it to children; family and friends. Clear, conscise and most importantly, understandable to simpletons like myself haha.
I'll bet Mark drives a classic car on a Sunday. He seems like the kind of man that would be found in a forest at 6am every morning exchanging verbal and physical blows while fencing his childhood rival. I imagine he then smokes his wife a kipper and reads the newspapers with BBC4 on the radio. I've spent quite a while looking for the best video on refencing for my students but most were tired librarians that have such a monotonic voice that you could use it to tune your Dyson Vacuum as a musical instrument. Thanks Mark.
excellent presentation. My question is..where exactly in the sentence do you cite? if it is author prominent you do it at the beginning, and if it is information prominent you do it at the end ? many thanks
Yes, it is kind of correct both, however there is a link to Mark’s book in the video description. so, if you are interested you will find detailed explanations on it.
Please answer me. I am taking a course Access to high education and I use sometimes You Tube channel in my work. Do I need to referencing the channel and how to do it?
I have a question, so I've referenced a newspaper saying, "The International Organization of Human Rights claims that blah blah blah (The Nation, 2009)." Since the newspaper has referenced their source already, do I still need to say that this was taken from the Nation? Or can I just leave it as "The International Organization of Human Rights claim that etc. etc." Is this double referencing??
For academic paper you should always use referencing, not only it is, it correct way but also it makes it more important as it show that some research is behind the paper and it is not just an opinion.
Where did you get the PDF, if it has been published you give the reference to the publisher as well the writer. The same way as you do the reference to an internet source.
