I usually add the sweet potato tops and leaves on sinigang (tamarind) soup. I am also just blanching it and adding to my salad with tomatoes, an onion, and a little shrimp paste along crispy fried fish.
your passion for gardening and cooking shines through in every dish you create. Your positive energy and love for nature are infectious, and it's truly inspiring to witness your sustainable approach to cooking. Thank you for sharing this wonderful journey with us, and I can't wait to try some of these recipes myself.
@@katechildofgod2596from what I’ve heard, yes, it does, since that’s how the plant gets energy. You can grow a patch just for tubers and one for leaves if need be. I think I heard her say in the video she picks less than 30%.
Look at your beautiful sweet potato leaves! Next year I will keep mine covered. It was a surprise planting & we've had too wet, too hot, too friggin many bugs, and 2 hail storms. They're still growing tho. Whoa! That is a crazy yellow pepper!
How nice of you to not dirty up more than one pan 😍 I create chaos every day in the kitchen and my husband has to deal with it HAHA :D we have a dishwasher, but still 😅 love the recipes!! I'm making that cucumber salad next week 🤩
Wow, what a feast! Everything looks delicious. Thanks for the ideas. Always looking for a way to fix extra veggies from the garden. Have a great weekend!
For some reason my sweet potatoes that are covered have more holes than my non covered ones LOL can’t wait to try the leaves this year! Great video as always! 🤍
All of that food looks so good! Thanks for sharing your recipes. And I don't recall ever hearing your name. You mention Aaron a lot, but I wish I also knew your name, because I really enjoy your videos and seeing your garden and animals.
This is an old video and I’m hoping someone will answer. I’ve been asking in many places, does cutting the vines help the potatoes get bigger or does this stunt the growth of the tubers?? Help!! I do like the vines and tried them for the first time but won’t eat them if it wrecks production. Thank you! ❤
Unfortunately, I can’t answer the size question, but I can tell you that the vines themselves are quite resilient. Take notice of the little nub at the base of each leaf. That nub has the potential to grow into another leaf or another vine. So if you cut a vine or it gets damaged, it’s just gonna form a new one. Even if you leave them be, they’ll create new vines off another vine for whatever reason.
From what heard cutting the leaves can negatively affect tubers because that’s how the plant gets its energy. You can always be conservative about how much you pick or just have two patches…one for tubers, one for leaves.
