I just cant believe how they have access to just such a large variety of fruits , trees and plants. Feels like they live in paradise. Fresh produce right on their door step , surrounded by nature and enjoyed together in a close knit family and community! All the money in the world cant buy what they have.

those taros are wild taros. we do not eat them in PNG but they can grow to very extreme lengths. i will be glad if you could provide the recipes on how to cook them.

In my native, in my dads small estate there was one 10+ kg root that had been left to grow and develop for 10+ years. One fine day out of curiosity I took it and carefully cut into many pieces and then put lots if tamarind for the itch to go away. But even after soaking for 48 hoursin tamarind water, it was extremely itchy. So I had to throw it entirely. Long taro plants have so much oxalic acid inside it that they definitely if it touches skin it causes heavy itchy rashes, at times urtecaria after eating, blindness if touched to eyes and kidney stones if large quantities of intake. 😢😢😢
