I'm so happy you are willing to share the good, the bad, and the real life of how a garden grows, is harvested, and revitalized to feed you all year long. Your calm explanations in plain language make it seem possible for those of us not familiar with the ebb and flow of a garden.

Your broccoli reminded me of my youngest when she was just getting around the garden...maybe 2 or 3... If she got away from me I always knew I'd find her in the broccoli patch. She'd have both fists full of florets and just mowing away at what poked out between her chubby little fingers. I told her to let Mama wash it first but....nope. Independent as a hog on ice, that one. -- Now I'm off to ponder what size mesh drying rack I'm gonna order. (Last I checked my lemon mint exploded all over the flower bed) I've just the place to hang one :) Thanks for the lovely video guys. I really enjoyed it.

This was good one Mrs. Lori, I can see that you and Mr. Brown have a good start on harvest this year. Mrs. Lori, you spoke about how people should always be prepared to live off the grid. This so true but so many people do not know how to be prepared for that. For the last 20 years I've lived here in Florida and most of these people do not know how to be prepared, as you know from my past comments I'm from West Virginia. I was raised there in the 50s and 60s, and country folk were always prepared to live off the grid. Many a times we were without electric due in part to the poor serve in our area at that time. We had oil lamps though out the house, coal and wood stoves. If we could not cook in doors we would make a fire outside to cook, our dad had an old cab stove in his work shop and there was a many a beans cooked on that stove. Well finally on the 12th of this month I will be heading home and I'm looking forward to it. Bless the both of you and I will be looking forward to your next video.

Miss Lori, I just got your cookbook and it is great. Loved the “This and That” section! But I have two questions, on the re-order page, I did not see how much your cookbook and how much for shipping. Also, on your dressing recipe, you say “a pan of cornbread”, is that 8 by 8 or 9 by 13 pan of cornbread. Just over the moon on the FW Woolworth recipe, my Grandma worked at Woolworth’s for over 15 years, oh the memories. Thank you so much for making this cookbook, it is great! Bet Mr. Brown did not know hw would be married to an author. Mr. Brown is a lucky man!

If you cut the bottom off of the corn and then peel from the bottom up, the silk will come off easier. I feel silly telling you this because you are such experienced gardener. I use too peel from the top down also, so doing it this new way was a game changer. But, also, maybe fresh from the garden the silks come off easier. I don’t have access to corn right out of the garden. I just love watching your videos. It gives me such peace, so thank you so much.
