When I first played this game, I was about 7 or 8. I wanted to name my character Link, since I loved Zelda, but I wasn't very good at spelling. Regardless, the legend of "Lick" will carry on in my heart forever (I'm not joking, I named him Lick..)
Abagail Cure First time I played A Wonderful Life, at the beginning of the game, I actually forget what I named my farm, but I thought I had to put Farm in the name so it ended up having Farm Farm in the name, so I had to reset the damn game, LOL
this game is sad as fuck, old people can die, you can beat your child, muffy will cry as no one loves her, the brown haired girl is forced into marriage and just a bunch of other sick twisted things. I love it
*Playing FOMT* Everyone is so happy and friendly. *Playing HMDS* You can literally kill the Mayor right off the bat. Honestly, I prefer HMDS even if it is a glitchy mess.
8:58 - PBG, how could you be so blatantly selfish? Because Carter has been praising the sun, your crops have received the sunshine they need in order to grow.
I mean it’s a wonderful life is about a guy wanting to kill himself because his life was so terrible if I recall correctly so maybe it’s a ironic title like that one.
I love this game because the characters all age and have lives outside of the main character's life; for example, the potential spouse characters all have different routes they go on if you don't marry them. Muffy works at the bar the rest of her life completely dependent upon the much older bar owner because of her insecurity over never being in a successful relationship; Nami attempts to leave the Valley but ends up back there anyway, a depressed alcoholic who lives at the hotel; and it's implied that Celia marries the verbally and emotionally abusive asshat who lives on the farm with her (and is also possibly her uncle). ... Okay, this game is a bit dark. But it does have an inexplicable yeti in it AND there's a version where you can play a girl courting the hippie, the blond guy, and the abusive asshat, so there's something.
Maddie B I don't know what that guy is talking about, Marlin is a pretty nice guy. Just kinda cold like Nami. And Celia doesn't marry him, Vesta forces her into an arranged marriage with some guy from the city.
You forgot two very important things, PBG. 1. You can actually GET A FREAKING DIVORCE. 2. After you die, you can still play, but in Heaven Mode/Afterlife Mode.
+WhatTheWhale how do I get it to be one full name? (WhatTheWhaleGames) I was looking for this comment so I wouldn't have to type it myself, lol. About the Heaven Mode thing. I didn't know you could get divorced.
Of course I have a typo on the title on the day that I'm out of town with zero reception for 12 hours. WHOOPS. Thanks to everyone who's watched so far! I put a lot of time into this one, hope you enjoyed it. =)
If they had doubled the town's population and size AWL would have been a masterpiece. No grocery store, no blacksmith, no library, no museum and no Mayor because it's not even big enough to have a Mayor!! Everyone in the town knew it because evey day most of them would LEAVE the Valley and go to Mineral Town. Yea I felt horrible for Muffy and Celia because if you don't marry them it is sad to see what happens to them and it is because they both live in forget-about-me valley.
If we get a story of seasons version for switch or something, which I kinda doubt but anyway, they should do that, considering they added a batchelor and bachelorette.
I think the game was meant to be a little bit more crowdy but due to release date they can't put many planned feature in the game, there is already a youtuber play this game for 2 years said that you can't even meet the harvest goddes you can only see the random event mention her and the spring.
"Didn't even try, made lotsa money." I feel this is representative of how the "popular" people on youtube (reaction channels, prank channels, etc) make their cash.
Rarely you can find stone tablets in the mines and Carter and Flora FREAK out and take them. Apparently Carter is looking for stuff about his ancestors and that's why he doesn't care about most of it. Because it doesn't have information that could help him. Also: I confess that I cheated through most of AWL, but I DID do the big dairy farm thing! It's fun! I mostly bred my own cows though, even though my bulls took up slots that could be used for more cows.
I actually found where the stone tablets but then I accidentally over write that save file So I have no evidence of me actually finding it and giving it to him but I swear I did
DIDN'T EVEN TRY, MAKED LOTS OF MONEY, DIDN'T EVEN TRY, MAKED LOTS OF MONEY, DOESN'T MATTER IF ITS RAINY OR IF ITS SUNNY, JUST PLANT THE THREES AND GETS LOTS OF MONEY, YEAAAHYEYEEEI
If you don't emphasize marriage or never pay attention to your farm while married, the character is criticized for not putting any priority in their farm life and I think it's implied that they return to the city
This is the only Harvest Moon I have played. I loved this game growing up. My favorite part was collecting the animals for your farm, like the cat. Also, that song was majestic. A+. 10/10. Will listen again.
+Brad Laws Really enjoyed this game, hough I agree it could be pretty slow and more tedious than some of the other harvest moons, it does have some interesting content. The plant guy is too finicky, the milking room often didn't work right, it's too hard to find important pieces for the archaeologist, the sprites do essentially nothing... and what's the deal with the abandoned building on your farm that you can do NOTHING with at any point? Like I said , it was a fun game for its time but it had flaws. I'd like to see a remake or sequel in a closer vein to the original.
Yeah I got this on GC too because a buddy of mine was really into Harvest Moon (but on the SNES). I was so weirded out and bored by it that I didn't touch another farming game again until Stardew Valley last year, which I absolutely loved!
Dude I am SO glad you finally got around to finishing this video. Your musical segments are mad magical. You should've told me earlier you could sing. -_-
The People have spoken! We need a video talking about the new game! Will always comeback to this due to nostalgia. Honestly you are the only person to make a video like this for a wonderful life. It completes me
A wonderful life is definitively my favorite one by far, it nails the atmosphere, there is a ton of unexplained things, and everything feels like it is actually there, and would be there without you, instead of feeling like a stage set for you. The characters are unique and unforgettable lol, and you can grow a mustache. Oh and you can poop! YOU CAN POOP!
I love your "high pbg" voice. I'm a sucker for the voice edits that make you sound rediculous. Masterwork as always, PBG! Also, quick question: which harvest moon game would you recommend for a first timer?
+Spencer “Highmax” Durette I'm not PBG, but I played Grand Bazaar (on the DS) for my first game, and I absolutely loved it! Then again, a lot of people said they didn't really like that game, so... *shrug* I really think it's up to personal opinion.
I started with friends of mineral town. loved that game so much as a kid. I literally cried for thirty minutes when I deleted one of my saves on accident. I was like 6.
+Steven Tarsitano My sister played it in the past while I watched, after he dies she never cared and just finished the save and tried the other girls. The only thing that saddened her was that the child often became something different than she wanted him to be... lol
I can relate, when I played Crisis Core and when Zack Fair, the main character died, and I lost it, denying it, getting angry, trying everything during and after the credits, staying till for a while, merely sitting there in silence, and eventually adopting his own personality. 2nd Grade me went through the Kübler-Ross model on grief. I still have Zack Fair's personality, the scars remain.
10:27 Are we not going to talk about how PBG hit those notes perfectly and that his singing his actually legitimately amazing? I do believe he has an amazing singing voice, but he tends to hold back when using it because he likes to ''joke sing'' for lack of a better word. See Stone Mask Song.
I'm back rewatching this vid after 8 years! Wonderful Life was one of my first video games and I spent so many hours playing it. I am so glad it's getting a remake on the Switch!!! 💕
Growing up playing A Wonderful Life and Another Wonderful Life, this video made me pretty nostalgic. I remember playing year 1 over and over again trying to woo all of my suitors.
This game was the first Harvest Moon game I ever played, and it began my love for the franchise. (Now renamed Story of Seasons) I can honestly say AWL and ANWL are completely unique, and are different from the rest of the series in a beautiful way. It's the game that invoked the most emotion out of me, and is truly an experience.
Just in case no one knew… Carter would take the tablets you find in the dig site. If you found a tablet every year, the next year the dig site expanded in size.
I remember playing the PS2 version of the game (and yes, it ran slow as fuck). The memory that sticks in my mind is how I pissed off my horse shortly after getting him by accidentally giving him too many baths (he had dark fur and it was hard to see if he was dirty or not), and no matter what I did, he never forgave me. Fed him premium food, brushed him religiously, made sure to only wash him when he was dirty - none of it did any good. He was forever stuck at rock-bottom affection 'cause he didn't like playing with water.
I have no idea why, but this is the one I always come back to when rewatching pbg videos. It’s just so well put together. It’s like these videos never age. They’re timeless!
This was one of my favorite and most played games back in the day. Probably hundreds of hours into this one. It was the first one i played in the series
This is to everyone who says Pbg is back, he uploads 1 or sometimes 2 times a month unless it's Zelda month. It takes a lot of time to make quality videos especially for the best RU-vidr (Pbg)
Future Derpy The only "Harvest Moons" I've really played were Rune Factory 2 and 3. The rest never appealed to me when I was younger (though I might actually try the SNES game at some point).
Harvest moon a wonderful life is probably my favorite harvest moon game because of the memories I have playing it with my cousin. It was a bit annoying until we figured out how to get the red hair girl to love us and then it was depressing as shit when we died at the end of (was it) six game years (?)
The Camo IDK, but I imagine it probably tanked in ratings. I mean, on the internet, reaction videos can do well because people can just find whatever specific thing they're looking for and know what's coming but on a Nick show it's just random so they can't quite draw in the same audience.
It doesn't really matter how much I was paid, because there was a false copyright claim on the comment, so until I win the fight, a third party will be taking most of the revenue.
HOLY CRAP! This video wasn't only good, it was fantastic! Seriously, although I still like modern PBG, older PuhBuhGu is so much better, and this video was shockingly great!
TBH this game broke my heart. I stopped playing it for years because of the ending. Being so use to the character living forever, then this game comes along and says "Psss, you like death??I do, you ready???" No I wasn't. Luckily the PS2 version, though it is slow as all get out..lets you live forever.
This is probably my ultimate favorite in the series, but probably because it was the first one I played. Strong nostalgia factor. But all of the characters were just so interesting! The farming was fun and also the other tasks you can do to make money. It’s got a story but you get some freedom. I loved the aspect of getting married and having the child too. So good! I logged too many hours playing this one.
FPS Games: Death by gunshot wounds/knives etc. Survival Games: Death by animals, fall damage, natural causes, hunger, thirst Minecraft: Death by mobs, suffocation, 12 year olds Harvest Moon - A Wonderful Life: Death by old age.
Fun fact: The characters look at you while walking past if you have high friendship with them. Nina looks at you right away early in the game, meaning when you show up, she already likes you
