Gomphrena is the most versatile flower in our garden. It is always one of the first Summer blooms that we harvest, and still looks amazing in the field in late Fall. Gomphrena is excellent as both a cut and a dried flower. The colors are stunning and tend to deepen if it is harvested at the correct stage. Join us in field as we share our tips for successfully harvesting gomphrena for drying.

I discovered you today from your how to harvest zinnias video. Your harvesting and preparing videos are so great. I love that you prepared examples of what not to cut and what to cut and the reasons why and also demonstrate it on the actual plant. I love how everything is so organized, especially your beautiful flower farm

Im having trouble getting them to sprout... so im putting the seeds in damp paper towel but even when they sprout then, they dont survive easily once put in a pot and the ones that do are growing incredibly slowly. I put them in full sun which helped a bit, but is it possible the weather is too cold? We've had a bit of a cooler spring and tonnes of rain bere in australia so im wondering if that's why?
@1818Farms
@1818Farms Год назад
How deep are you planting the seeds? We just barely cover ours. They like heat. We put ours in trays and left them outside in mid May. Planted on a Friday and had sprouts by Monday and Tuesday.

@jessieyunus526
@jessieyunus526 3 года назад
@@1818Farms would you generally go by one bloom per stem then, for drying?
@1818Farms
@1818Farms 3 года назад
Some varieties are more branching than others. The first cut of the season we remove the center stem of the branching varieties. These stems are shorter, but useable. You want to get those cut before they goto seed. A lot of our sides are mature at cutting. We do have some heads that aren’t fully developed. Those are snipped off and placed into a dehydrator. What is your zone? I think our success with this flower comes from our hot climate as well.
