I’ve read about this in Susan Weed’s books and am now growing it in my mini ponds..now I know how to prepare it - thank you so much for such a clear video.
Thanks I was writing this down .our farm has alot of horsetail. I'm a VIETNAM vet and drugs I do not use yet I learned to make tinctures and these herbs have help me in my journey of health. My health is my wealth...
I learned something new today also. Thanks for doing this video. I remember playing with this as a girl, its fun to snap apart. I'm going to have to find some and try it. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! I learned so much about the capsules I just bought but now I know they are all over the place while I go on my 5 mile walk each day. Can I just chew on it while I'm walking and can one consume too much of it? Thank you young lady
I have this stuff growing along my creek. Never knew what it t was just knew when I went rabbit hunting I could jump them from it. I'll have to try it this spring when out mushroom hunting. I pick leeks and stinging nettles make tea from the leafs.
Thank you for this video you have very sweet energy. Would be nice to hear about the other varieties..I'm in Washington state so mine doesn't look that way. Also, I don't have a dehydrator so wonder what to do?
@@acresofclayhomestead Ok! I will try this I'm staying in one room!..so this could be funny. Also horsetail are full grown now in May. Still ok to harvest? Do the medicinal properties change? Thank you, Diane Sea. Wa
Interesting! Where can I find the horsetail plant? I live in Papua New Guinea and I do not know where to find such plant cos this is the first time I have seen and learnt of the plant. I need to have this plant in my back yard please..
I'm trying to quit smoking, heard it helps. Didn't realize it was a reed. I have joint grass growing everywhere. Looks a little different, but was wondering if it still has similar medicinal properties? Not having much luck deciphering the two online.
Thank you for sharing I have arthritis real bad to the point it disables me so I'm going to show my wife this videos even though she don't watch much RU-vid I'm going to check have her check this one out and see if it's something she will do she's into things like this so I will see she may already know about it I don't think so though thank you very much for sharing a big thumbs up
Horse tail, snake tail, scouring rush, puzzle grass, contains thiaminase, which taken over extended periods can cause thiamine deficiency and associated liver damage. But then ,read the side affects of the stuff doctors give you.
How much taken over a. Of time can cause this problem?.. like how many cups of tea to put the day would you have to drink in order to have this be an issue?.. assuming you're having a teaspoon per cup.
The thiamine enzymes are destroyed when drying or cooking the horsetail. 1-3 cups of tea a day would be fine. Just don't eat horsetail raw, especially if you have low thiamine levels.
@@acresofclayhomestead Hang around this channel for a year and you get a well rounded education! Don't know how you find enough hours in the day, but glad you share the highlights with us!
Hi there I just subscribed, your channel. I halve a question. I have my horse tail in a pot, it's better to plant it on the ground? And the dirt has to be hummed? What do you suggest me ? I live in las Vegas here is very hot. Please answer. Thanks
Wondering if you can still harvest in the fall. Couldn't identity it this spring ☺️. Now I see the jointed stems I've seen my whole life. Do they have any medical benefits at this stage? Maybe 🤔 if tinctured in 80 proof vodka or ACV? Just don't want to wait until next spring 😊.
I’ve never heard of horsetail before. I’ll have to check into this further, as I has crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis. Don’t know if we have that in Texas. Thanks for the info. Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas
I don't have personal experience with using horsetail with arthritis. But, I do hope that you can find things in the natural such as horsetail that can help you.
Very interesting but where can I get it I live in newhampshire so it not something that just grows wild here I guess but would like to try it ...and thx for the great info ..godbless
Not sure if it grows in your area, you'd have to look along ditches or in sandy wet areas near water. You can also find it in health food stores or online.
If you’re still looking for a vendor, here’s a vid I just ran across while researching… from Pondmegastore. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7yjJz_CYIX4.html
I was surprised because at my house it was only used as an ornamental plant. I have to try it but I'm worried about different species, here they are called "bambu air" or water bamboo.
Those arent horsetail though, they're Wahoo it's a cousin. They can be used as an absorbable herbal silica source, but can also accumulate dangerous levels of arsenic so, you know, don't over do it.
