So interesting to see how things are made from the start to finish. Been curious about how to make this roof for quite a while because you often, in your previous videos, express how much you like this roof type. I appreciate the detailed description text and that the sound was from background noise. I like the slow pace and it felt like I was there and part of the process of thinking and making.
I wish there were more time to rest! Super busy with the cleaning up, harvesting kaya and the main house and reading room need to be spring-cleaned too. Need more hands around here!
Finally some work. I was worried you got a part in Hollywood movie, or went skiing Switzerland. Is good to see you still alive. Still looking houses in Wakayama/Shingu. 2023 baby. What research, or progress you make with Bees and knowledge of future hive?
Knowledge about bees - 1. Bees buzz like cats when you touch them. 2. Bees are hardworking, they work even during typhoons 3. They love tea flowers 4. They don’t require any attention and can fend for themselves! 🐝🐝🐝
Its awesome to see what your doing there in japan. Im a carpenter from germany and for sure I will come to japan one day to learn from your culture and grow in what im doing. Over the next few days I will make my first small shoji with a kumiko. Maybe wenn I come over to japan one day I will contact you and we can learn from each other. Blessings from germany and thanks for the insights in what you are doing. Im enjoying it a lot :) Merry cristmas to you and your family if you are celebrating it.
Heyyy 👋🤗 I can't wait to see the end result of the guesthouse 🗾❤️ That grass is for thatched roofing? N you said mochi Rice? As in for glutinous rice flour 🤷🏻♀️
Can’t wait too! The miscanthus reeds (or Japanese pampas grass) are for thatched roofs. I haven’t decided which structure I’ll thatch but it should be for a dog house, goat house or chicken coop. Mochi rice is glutinous rice yes.
They could! But you’d have to unstitch everything first, which would take quite a bit of time. If you don’t unstitch everything the strings would catch in the weed whackers.
