I have two mulberry trees in my yard in Maryland, complements of the birds! I didn’t plant them, but me and my neighbors all love the mulberry preserves. 💜
We appreciate the fact that you take the time to answer the many questions that people often have. You deserve good results for all your efforts in such a harsh environment. Good luck to you. ❤❤
We figure it's the least we can do as you all take time out of your day to watch our videos and comment here. Most of the comments are very encouraging to us, so it's motivating for us as well to be here with you guys!
Awww the kitties. Cant wait for my mulberries to mature and produce fruit. I wanna get a shangri la mulberry too and one day make wines, jams, and preserves with my fruit trees.
Love this, watching the bucket fill. I got 2 today, thanks to the wind. Still a ton of green ones up high. It's great that the wood is limber. Makes it easy to pick, but the tree still should have been cut back last winter. niio
When I was about four years old - many moons ago. - my old neighbours, the Parkers, had a huge, old mulberry tree that grew diagonally and as kids, we were allowed to climb it's huge, low lying limbs to gather the mulberries. It was a very magical time for a 4 year old. We had silk worms thanks to this mulberry tree's leaves. The stains on our hands, face and clothes were no problem thanks to the prudent action of the green mulberries that were rubbed onto the stains. Like magic, they disappeared from clothes and body when the stained parts were washed. Your mulberries are huge and must taste something special if even the cat loves to lick the juice.
Do you keep your trees that small and spreading like a peach with pruning only ? Mine want to grow fast and straight upwards . I do cut it back each year . Does that variety stay smaller . Beautiful harvest !
We do have a couple of white mulberries, but we're not fans of the fruit. It's not quite as sweet and even when fully ripe still has a hint of "green" flavor to them.
@@EdgeofNowhereFarm ah, OK. Random wildly growing ones in Argentina were *very* sweet but totally bland. I was wondering if that's just the property of those trees of unknown (if any) variety or something in general.

Do you grow Pakistani mulberries too? I have a small back yard and I'm trying to decide between getting a Pakistani or a Shangri La mulberry tree? Do you have a preference between the two? Is one of them easier to keep at a small and manageable size?
Yes, we have both the Black Pak and Shangri La. For smaller spaces I would lean towards the Shangri La. They are much easier to keep smaller in size as the Black Pak really wants to be a very large tree!
Ok, that is really strange. We do get a few pieces of fruit that set in the Fall, but Spring is the prime time for mulberry trees. Are you located here in the Phoenix area?
@@ceeslife hmm, I would assume you would be seeing the same fruiting cycle for you there. I (Duane) was born and raised in Gardena and the fruit cycles we had on our fruit trees there are very similar to what we have here.
They stay purplish for the rest of the day. By the following day there may be some residual darkening on the nails and cuticle, but that's about it. Definitely worth it though!!
I was inspired by you and bought 3 mulberries from a local nursery in north phoenix! How often did you water the new trees vs now when they are mature?!
Woohoo, congrats on those new tree babies!! The first year we water a little less, but more often. For these that was 15-20 gallons 2x/week. As maturing trees we water them once/week and typically put about 60 gallons on them at each watering. If we get too hot and dry and they start to show stress we'll water the same amount, twice/week.
