Except that they are actually putting them in distress. They are spraying the snails with acid to trigger their defence mechanism - producing slime. After this procedure, the snails need about two months to recover so that they can undergo it again. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5hbenumAaJM.html&ab_channel=BusinessInsider
VisualAddict It's quite funny though. I'm french and like a most french people, I have never eaten frogs or snails (except sea snails but I don't like them). And yet, now that I live in the UK, I found out that most people had tried them once when they visited France. It's pretty much mostly foreign tourists eating them
Mica is a mineral that is added to cosmetics to make it shiny. Some places have an abundance of natural mica that needs to be mined. However, the places that have a lot of mica are places struck with poverty. Children have to mine for mica in unsafe caves, where they are liable to serious injury and even death. The worst thing is that the kids can't stop because they wouldn't be able to get food on the table if they stopped. Companies like Lush are trying to help stop this by using artificial mica instead of the natural kind, but I don't think that will enough to help the kids.
I actually use snail cream products for my face, it makes any fine wrinkles disappear quickly including my eye bags and improving my skin texture since I used to have acne scarring. So yeah, hail the slime~ XD
Thumbs up from a snail owner. I own 3 garden snails (Custard, Cliff and Cinnamon). I have had them for 4 years now. They live in a large second hand bearded dragon tank, with lots of hiding places, fresh food everyday, rain everyday (I use a plant sprayer twice a day at least to keep their tank nice and humid), and free added protection from predators. I love snails and I'm glad that this man treats them so nicely. 👍
@@Oopsydaisie Gosh I don't even remember leaving this comment. Released my snails back into the wild sometime last year, but I had them for many years. Very unfortunate that they do kill them. Thumbs down from a former snail owner. 👎
As this video mentions, mucin can be obtained by stimulating pain or pleasure in the snails, and harvesters have been known to choose the pain stimulant, possibly because they didn't know any other way. But this company uses the "pleasure principle" (Janet Jackson anyone? LOL) to stimulate the mucin. This is a win-win in my opinion. Well done, Mr. Sampò! May you have a long, successful career.
Well, they are spraying the snails with acid to trigger their defence mechanism - producing slime. After this procedure, the snails need about two months to recover so that they can undergo it again. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5hbenumAaJM.html&ab_channel=BusinessInsider
@@FirstnameLastname-es1ko Snails can be pest if they eat up your garden and snails can also be very easy interesting pets too so.. I guess it can apply almost any creature depending on the person
PETA have a problem with everything though. Tbh, if cruelty is actually avoided I don't see a problem with it, but i'm sure some fundamentalist vegan would disagree with me on that
I was wondering the same thing. I personally wouldnt use it, just because I don't use cosmetics, but if this is truly cruelty free, and after the extraction of slime the snails are brought back to their "natural" habitat, is it considered vegan? If I were to make the comparison to dairy, in that the extraction of milk isn't necessary painful (and yes I understand that it can be abused), are there any practices which don't have to do with the slime but cause harm to the snails (back to my dairy example: the separation of mother and child, and the artificial impregnation of mothers) - - that would be the answer to our question.
Polina Mean Pineapple I have dermatillomania, and I disagree on that. There's probably arbutin or a similar product in your snail stuff. It's pretty gentle on your face, but it's not the best for that.
i guess it doesn't work with big problems like yours, because yours might be stronger i meant when smb who has just oily skin pops pimple the wrong way (like me, for example), it gets crust afterwards, and if you put stuff with nail slime on it(when the crust is not falling off, but during the process of actual healing), it heals really really fast, almost like with products that have pantenol in them but not all korean producers have strong doses in their products, only mizon gave me that effect
Snail slime has been wonderful for my mom and myself. And I have oily, acne-prone skin and she has dry, maturing skin. It's like a miracle ingredient for all skin concerns.
I think Gary the Snail needs a vecation in here for all the stress and life failures that Spongebob is giving him specially his driving lesson failures.
except that it is fake. They are spraying the snails with acid to trigger their defence mechanism - producing slime. I use snail face creams, but I had no idea most of them were produced by killing the creatures. I guess it's time to start buying from this guy instead of my K beauty staples.
Out of The Hat Actually I want to clarify that a lot of korean products also contains snail mucus that are sustainability source ( I believe CosRX does this). I would double check with the brand before completly boycotting them.
XxgamerxX178 well ive never had that bad of acne but i did have a few small acne scars from when i was in high school and it completely got rid of that super fast and usually i only get like one or 2 pimples ir whiteheads a month and ive noticed that they arent as bad and go away alot faster but im not sure if that directly related to the snail slime cause ive also started taking a bunch of skin, hair and nails vitamins recently that have been helping my skin soooo much and my hair is growing crazy fast!! But the snail slime has definitely made my complexion alot more even and flawless and gotten rid of any redness that i used to have so i highly recommend it. But if u have really bad acne u should use products that have salicylic acid in them cause i have found that is the absolute best thing to help get rid of acne asap and to drink LOTS of water
Use gramflour paste for acne/sebum issues. Just apply it on your face for 15 minutes and wash off with warm water. It leaves your skin moisturized and cleansed at the same time
This just took a load of my mind, because I have been trying out using a snail product for the first time, and have been searching to find out if there is any snail cruelty because I really like the product and I would obviously have to stop using the product in such a case.
I absolutely LOVE snail mucin in skincare. My favorite product is the COSRX Snail Mucin 96 Essence. It is 96% snail mucin and also contains panthenol. The benefits of snail mucin are largely theoretical but at the very least the mucin is incredibly hydrating and soothing; and at most it is an anti-aging superstar ingredient that might also act as an antioxidant and speed up wound healing.
@Jillian Lehosky Agreed, though I've heard that not many companies do cause them any hurt or dismay. So the chances of coming across a all round high-rated Brand that doesn't collect & resource the ingredient comfortably, swiftly & ethically is rather low. But if you can & you're working at a specific price then just get a product that doesn't use it that'll be just as good.
Did anyone notice that they actually sprinkled something that look like salt onto the snails before shutting the slime extractor's door close? If it's salt, it actually causes them to produce more slime.
Snail spa is also relaxing too! They put 2 - 3 snails on ur face and let them move around, giving ur face their slime. People say its gross but its only a bit ticklish and doesnt even smell bad. You can get a smooth glowing skin after that soooo worth trying~!
As a long time snail keeper I’m concerned by the unnecessary added stress of washing the snails, which can be seen by the bubbling all over each snail in the video. Washing snails used to be recommended to snail keepers but is now known to be damaging to the snails’ slime production.
Oh we have a lot of snail in our bathroom we can donate it 😂 they creep me out a little bit cuz you'll never know they have already crawling in your walls.
I'm about to add snail essence on my skincare regimen and the thought of the producers hurting these snails to get their mucus (I did that a lot to snails when I was a kid, I AM SO SORRY GARYYYYY) horrified me. Ah but thank god, they didn't actually hurt the snails to get these! :D
I'm considering between cosrx and benton. Cosrx because I'm using their exfoliation products too but then I read it somewhere that Benton is more suitable for combination skin
Me: mom, im so jealous about the snails. All they do is eat, rest, and take a good spa!! Mom: has the person ever interviewed the snail? How does he know that the snails enjoy or not??? 😅😅
Update: apparently the same farm was reintroduced in business insider, and it turns out that the material sprayed is acid, and the snails are eventually euthanized by an ozone solution after 2 to 3 sessions of extraction. This basically kills them, and the remains (intestines) are extracted for gourmet dishes.
I love snail slime! They sell it on amazon for anyone interested. My family was freaked out to receive snail slime for Christmas gifts, but now they love it.
if they secrete more when they’re stressed, then don’t you think that them being thrown together on a hard surface and sprayed with a foreign spray is stressful and that’s why they produce more slime
He's spraying them with a solution containing probably enzymes or hormones that induce pleasure. He said the spray is pleasure inducing, so no, it is not stress. Also that's not salt, as salt would instantaneously kill the snails. Seriously, learn to pay attention.
@@peachcampanella snails don't let put slime like that when they feel pleasure. stress makes them oversecrete slime. Haven't you ever kept a snail p your arm and watched its slime trail before and after you put it on your arm? It's trail is always wetter on your arm owing to stress Wake up and be more observant brother. Steam/heat stresses snails. It's so basic
I just used a snail slime sheet mask for the first time. It came in my Ipsy beauty box. It smelled pretty normal for a sheet mask. And it wasn’t icky gooey or anything and my face was so super soft and plump after.
I want it! I was interested in some Korean snail products but I'm worried that their process of getting the slime isn't cruelty free :( do you send your products abroad in Europe?
I love snails so much when I found a snail cosmetic product I had to know what they did to the snails. They said no cruelty was involved so I looked this up and now I can rest easy. I love snails 😂❤
