Hi Greta, what surprised me about our tomatoes this year was I stuck some broken stems into the garden long after they started flowering and, lo and behold, we got tomatoes! These plants really want to live and produce. I agree with you about the squash. Even here on Vancouver Island, we had lots of flowers that went unpollinated. ~ Sandra
I also grew some replacement plants from stem starts after the crazy wind storm. They took off for me. I always want but never get a lot of squash. 😆 This year was not good at all, though.
Fab harvest Greta 😮, I wrapped most of my green tomatoes in newspaper and they ripened nicely. I’ve manured 2 of my beds but insanely I’m still waiting for asparagus fronds to die back so I can do that bed. Madness looks delicious 😋. Have a super week and stay warm, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
I got a lot accomplished today but still empty beds 😆. My tomatoes are already turning fast in the warm house so I'm lucky I don't have to bother wrapping. Hope all is great Ali
Watched this while doing my 3rd batch of the season of tomato passata for canning. We do use a fair amount of sauce for pizza, pasta, etc., but I hate the processing part! If I could grow and harvest the veg and have someone else do the processing, I’d be in heaven. 😉
The processing of our vegetables is definitely time-consuming. Passata is a great way to gonwith tomatoes. As my freezer fills, I may make a batch or 2 also.
I agree three baskets of Green Tomatoes is exactly what madness looks like, but if it is, I like being mad! Wait what did I just hear, take the little stems off the Toms? I didn't know that. I love to make and can all my red Toms for Bolognaise sauce in the winter.
