And he was fascinated by her from the start. He complimented her on her personality and okay looks too. He bought her a drink and his gaze has been directed on her since. Like always. Really always. Because yes, he can look at her that way. Always has and always will. And that confuses him, maybe even makes him nervous. Even if there’s history, where he has tried to impress her. Come on to her and he has kissed her before. He chose work over what they could have had and she agreed. And even though she told him to put it out of their minds and never mention it again. He still teases her, has fun with her. This includes making fun of others and finding similar interests. His eyes still light up when he sees her, making his smile stretch from ear to ear. And he still goes out of his way to see her, like randomly showing up at places he knows she frequents or attending events that are important to her. This also includes him taking her on impromptu dates or going out to buy her gifts. While being the perfect gentleman towards her, giving her a ride in his car and bringing her flowers. He uses her name often. He even has a special tone of voice just for her. And he never only tells her what she wants to hear, he tells her what she needs to hear. But that’s because he values her opinion and he might even have random concerns because he cares about what she thinks. He promised to give her the same respect in return. He remembers every conversation he has had with her, like when she mentioned disliking something he did, but it also includes important anniversaries and the small details. Also when it comes to her. He can even sense her presence. He asks for her opinion, because he trusts her. Not just with work or money, but with his life. She knows all about his family, including the one thing that scarred him deeply, but that doesn’t stop him from telling his family about her. Because he considers her family and thus her family his own. He makes an effort to be liked by her family and friends, because her friends are his friends and he talks about her to them. He even jokes about marrying her. And just because they focussed on work. Time and time again. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t get jealous, because seeing her with another man does bother him. Even if he has a hard time admitting his own feelings. He is still the one right beside her when with a group of friends and he still lingers around for one second longer than he has to. And he does miss her when she is gone, because he made her a part of his big plan in life. Whether that happened consciously. Or subconsciously. Making his motions often mimic hers. Even in the one way he doesn’t allow himself to think about, but she will always be the most important person to him. He chooses her, makes her his priority, stands up for her and protects her at all costs. Even when he has to break the law to do so. He is vulnerable in front of her, he actively tries to express his emotions. He has a sentimental streak when it comes to her. He lets her take care of him and he takes care of her, he comforts her. And even when he’s testing the waters. Her happiness will always come first, even if it means sacrificing his own. He can’t stay mad at her and after a fight he swallows his pride and makes up. He initiates conversation, not only telling her he is sorry. He tells her he is thankful for the years they shared and makes an effort to keep her in his life even longer. He’s trying. Making himself better for her. Including dealing with his biggest issues in life. Because he doesn’t just care about her, he loves her and after twelve years. She’s the only one he truly let in.

A piece of thought: if it comes down to the last episode of Suits (and i wish it won't be anytime soon), it will be about Harvey FINALLY realizing that Donna is his soulmate, right from the very start, and then there will be the nostalgic scenes of them all the way from season 1. But Donna's gone, finally moving on. And Harvey has to do something to win her back, with Mike's help (Mike has to be in the fuckin finale coz the two of them started it all).
