Man, I got so attached to Harwin in so little time. I really wish they would have shown us more of their relationship and his interactions with his boys.
We were robbed of their relationship... I wanted a episode of just them, forming that relationship. And then we got a taste of them only just to be ripped away from them in the same episode...
if his tragic death broke my heart by only getting to know him for 5 minutes, now imagine how hard would have hit me if hbo didn't rush things and actually showed us more scenes of him and his relationship with rhaenyra 😭🤧 they deserved better
I don't quite get why HBO are rushing things along. this is a TV series not a movie so no limited time so long as ratings stay up they can have as many episodes and seasons as they wish
They want the end to be the start of the actual dance so they are rushing all the prelude to that circumstances(which are a lot of years with important information) it'll keep the watcher interested in what comes next and it will secure a second season🤑
@@laurasilvestri926 Well the House Of The Dragon is literally about the Dance Of Dragons. Why would we spend anymore than a few episodes on events that happened decades prior. Just be lucky we got this much prelude to begin with. There is always that one guy.

In 114 AC, Princess Rhaenyra granted Harwin her favor at the tourney celebrating her wedding with Ser Laenor Velaryon. At that tourney, Ser Criston Cole broke his collarbone and shattered his elbow. Mushroom mocked him as "Brokenbones" after this event. Thereafter Harwin was a consistent presence at Rhaenyra's side and was the foremost member among the blacks. In late 115 AC, according to Septon Eustace, during the birth of Rhaenyra's second son, Lucerys, both Rhaenyra's husband Ser Laenor and Breakbones were in attendance at her bedside. When Rhaenyra moved to Dragonstone after the rivalry with Queen Alicent Hightower and the greens grew to be too much, Breakbones went with her as her personal sworn shield. In 120 AC, after Prince Aemond called Rhaenyra's sons "Strongs" and a brawl broke out, Harwin was removed as Princess Rhaenyra's champion by King Viserys and he returned to Harrenhal, being replaced by Ser Erryk Cargyll of the Kingsguard. Harwin died in a fire at Harrenhal that same year, with it also killing his father, Lord Lyonel Strong

His death is fairly book accurate, but he had a much longer journey to get there that we, the show watchers, were robbed of. He was supposed to be around much longer.
I knew his fate from reading ASOIAF and still wasn't prepared. I never realized his relationship with Rhaenrya was a thing until watching HOTD and I'm just so sad we didn't get to see more of them. We got her with Criston, and soon with Daemon (to no one's surprise), but practically nothing from the series itself. I don't think they expected season 2 to be renewed, so that's most likely why they skipped over a lot, but still not an excuse as to rob us of them.
how else was she meant to have kids? Her husband is a gay man with no sexual interest in her who does not want to lie with her to make the children. He has his own lovers, she has hers. it is probably a relief for him that he doesn't have to have sex with her. he is happy enough passing off the children as his.
Well, she would not have children with Leanor, and remaining childless would put her succession in question too. She was really put in a very tough spot. Besides, Rhaenyra was shown to be a very impulsive, fiery personally - i really don't think she is a good strategist at all.
@@nataliakoodziej2582 I think it was a question of entering a marriage with someone and expecting them to not father her children. Think about it. She could have had one child with Laenor, possibly two, and be done with the matter. I'm not saying it's an ideal situation, but as far as her wanting the throne and heirs, she was dumb about choosing Laenor as a husband and blatantly having children with someone who was not Laenor. She could have renounced the crown and been with Harwin. She could have made sure no hookups with Harwin resulted in pregnancy. But she ultimately chose to agree to marry a man who had no sexual preference to her, who did not give her children, and who ultimately cost her, everything. At least her and Daemon are legitimate. I love Rhaenyra but her downfall was her ignorance of thinking she was immune to the consequences of her actions. Alicent isn't completely wrong for pointing out how it's wrong. However, she approached it the wrong way. Had she agreed to Jace and Haelyna there would have been no civil war. Edit- at least Margarey accepted her husband's sexual orientation and tried to find ways to become pregnant with his child. She knew a bastard wouldn't pass and it's not like she had the skin pigmentation and silver hair quandary any Targaryen and Valerian would. Sadly Rhaenyra did things at an early age to ensure a false sense of security for her succession to the throne.
@@nataliakoodziej2582 I don't think she is a bad strategist. So far she resolved a conflict returning the egg and alsp proposed a good deal marriage for her son and niece. but she is impulsive and care free. which is very modern for the time she is in, and that causes her a lot of problems.

Now I can see why Alicent is persistent on Aegon being heir. The Dance of the Dragons is mostly because of Rhaenyra’s faults. She is the heir, yes no question about that but still, having an affair with someone other than his husband more so having an affair with a knight of a kingsguard is just wrong in so many levels. I feel bad for Leonor tbh, but if he really wants to have children he should have done his duties in bed seriously too lol.
Leonor doesn't want to lie with her. I think he can't get it up with her. Leonor is a gay man and has his own lovers. She needed heirs/children. if she stayed true to him even if he was off with his own male lovers she would never have had children
I don't think The Dance is only because of Rhaenyra's faults. It's due to many things and mostly due to Otto not shutting his mouth when needed to. If the King had never married a second time, Rhaenyra would have been the only heir, but the greedy Otto wanted his own daughter to be queen and she conceived male sons, so... Things got messed up. If you're trying to do something new and make people accept that, why would complicate such change of culture? That's what Otto and Viserys did. So conflitcs arised. Obviously. And even if Aegon and Aemond didn't exist, the fact she conceived bastards is not her fault either. It's not her fault her husband don't want to sleep with her. Rhaenyra's duty is to give the kingdom an heir. She's a tragic character, things never worked for her.
They could have called some boy from the pleasure houses to keep leonor and rhaenyra both interested and one thing leds to another and boom she's pregnant with the heir they both need. That's all they had to do
In the end it doesn’t even matter *spoilers* because a son of Rheanyra will sit on the iron throne and house Targaryen will live on through her children until we meet her many times great grandson(daughter) Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen
Jace and the boys parentage were only an excuse for the Greens to put their interests on the throne, they could looke like a copy of Aegon the Conqueror and they would still try to usurpe her in some other way. And for me their parentage doesn't even matter because, after all, they were still Rhaenyra's sons. There were many reasons to evoid bloodshed and Alicent ignored them all.
