Has Colin Firth Watched Pride&Prejudice Since 1995? Nope! :D

Funny Colin Firth would like to know what the 'fuss' was all about, LOL! He confesses not having watched Pride&Prejudice since 1995 (in 2009). Wearing spandex again for the animation A Christmas Carol was a strange funny experience, after Mamma Mia. How he was feeling in the role of a 'virtual puppet'.
How much fun he had shooting Mamma Mia with great friends. How different the role of a lonely depressed suicidal professor (A Single Man by Tom Ford, with Julianne Moore, Nicholas Hoult) was from Mamma Mia and A Christmas Carol joy. Also about his political involvement.

His interpretation of Mr Darcy worked really really well because he was able to manifest those qualities of the character. He was pompous, spoiled, proud, but he also had a wonderful vulnerability about him that came through loud and clear and we fell in love with that. That is what all the fuss is about.

Just one of the best movies ever created and the actors all of them terrific. I personally campare this movie to " Gone With the Wind" , classics. No other movie could take its place.

Mr. Firth, I'm curious if you have seen the whole movie Pride and Prejudice 1995 version vs the other versions, old and new yet? It's not just your acting, the words (the script), but it's your ability to use the right facial expressions and make the character so beloved. Yes, he has an arrogance, but to some extent it's justified in some cases. You made the character so believable and stoic. Then, out of nowhere, here comes his compassionate side, and his humility! This scenes with you and Ms. Ehle are so on point with one another, that they flow so naturally. For me, that is what the fuss for me is about. Great dialogue by two great actors. Oh, and the whole cast seems like each part was picked just for them. I say Bravo!

Seeking comfort I got sucked into the vortex that is RU-vid am now clicking on all Colin Firth Interviews after seeing "Deleted Scene : INTERVIEW OF COLIN FIRTH by BRIDGET JONES". So wanting presenters to keep asking Mr Darcy only about the white wet shirt scene in Pride & Prejudice like Bridget Jones did after they'd finished filming that one day🤣😂 Can Colin Firth do Pride & Prejudice again in a kind of mix of the 1995 series & Bridget Jones? ..lol is that like an impossible ask?

I love Colin with my whole heart but I don’t understand the fuss about the lake scene. After seeing him shirtless for real it doesn’t seem as great

Same here. I find him irresistible, but what's the big deal with that scene?
@sandrarobben280

@@msinvincible2000 I think the big deal was that it wasn’t in the book. It wasn’t necessary in any way and yet they chose to put it in. It worked.

In the nature of separation amongst the sexes ...even if courting... it was considered vulgar to see them in anything other than fully clothed. Darcy, having been rejected after his proposal to Lizzie, is consumed with normal lust & desire but won't give into it. He takes off his jacket & boots - dressed only in trousers & loose shirt - rashly jumps into the pond going against his more stuffy nature. By liberating himself from his more stricter self he enjoys it none the less. It is the Rejency equivalent of having a 'cold shower' when you have the hots for someone. What he didn't counter on is bumping into his very desire Lizzie...who is touring his estate with her relatives believing Darcy not to be there. He is embarrased that in his mind he is wet & caught half dressed ..to the very woman he wants impress. Lizzie is embarrassed that she sees him dishevelled but sexy ...& has been caught snooping - the modern equivalent of stalking your 'Crush's' social media. The fact his shirt is on yet wet...& his curly hair is dripping - shows Darcy in a raw state that Lizzie had not seen him in. This makes Darcy way more sexy for what's covered up by the shirt (his body) than if he'd been bare chested. This restraint in how the movie is made (& Colin Firth insisting to keep his shirt on) is what makes the swim scene so erotic.

So odd. They are British - but the seating arrangement -- so close, out of politeness. I'd need more space, just to breathe... Anyway, a huge fan of Firth and she seems a lovely presenter.

Colin The Firth yes but 95% of the female audience fell in love with him when he played Mr Darcy. Therefore his profile was raised immeasurably.
