Right now financial security should be at the top of everyone's priority list. I just heard on the news that In eviction cases in the U.S, about 13% of the U.S. population which represents over 40 million people is at risk of losing their homes this year. it’s going to be a very, very difficult time and I don’t want to be a doom and gloom person. I have roughly $100,000 in lifesaving funds that I need to grow quickly because the dream of retiring is starting to seem like a fairy tale. Please leave a comment if you can help.

If Greece exit euro would be 86% cut of public debt. Private debt will be in new currency so won't happen what you say. Exit from euro and devalue new currency will launch competitiveness and make imported goods expensive. Now I eat beans from Kirjistan because one euro is equal to 97 som (their currency). Very important is also the capital control which coming and leaving Greece otherwise those who have euros abroad will buy us.

German here, I want to offer a short version of my view of the crisis here. In short: Greece caused the debt problem by itself, but Germany actively made it worse. In the video, it is sort of indirectly mentioned: Debt to GDP ratio skyrocketed after the crisis began - much of that can be attributed to a shrinking GDP. Easy example: Say a country has a debt-to-GDP of 100%. Then the GDP drops by 25%. This means that the debt-to-GDP ratio is now at 133%. This partially explains the enormous increase in debt. What is the cause of the shrinking GDP? A huge part can be attributed to the economic policies that were implemented at the start of the crisis. Important to note: Germany was pretty much responsible for Greece's economic policies with the implementation of the Troika. To put it bluntly, in these matters, Greece was pretty much a vassal to Germany. And Germany was - and still is - obsessed with economic austerity and a balanced budget. Since Greece was spending a lot, huge cuts were implemented on behalf of Germany's government - many of these were to social services. However, this also meant that people had less money to spend, leading to a downward spiral. Germany is really stupid with regards to economic policies, so much so that I'd say our economy thrives (so far) in spite, not because of our politics. So, Germany actively made the situation in Greece worse. But that's not all. In German newspapers, reports of "us having to save the irresponsible south Europeans and lazy Greeks" was pretty common. It was disgusting on so many levels. I personally am in favor of a debt cut for Greece - also sort of as a payback for a) the Troika and b) WW2 forced loans.
@axilleas
@axilleas 2 года назад
That was actually a rather accurate, objective and non prejudiced assessment. I’d like to add that the point when we shot ourselves in the feet is with the “cooked” books that allowed us to enter the monetary union prematurely, something that led directly to a huge rise in goods’ prices and inflation.

I think that it is nice to here the opinion of a German upon the matter. Thank you so much for your support. I think that the media' s propaganda really effects the way the people of two countries see each other and it causes me disgust as well. I don't think that all Germans are cruel as they are portrayed by the greek media as not all Greeks are lazy. People need to understand that among large masses one can find individuals with different qualities. The people of a nation can't all have just one characteristic. Well... Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and Peru are doing better, while the rest of the Latin American states are just so poor that it just wouldn't make sense for Greece to do worse than them. Ah and the Turkish invasion on cyprus on 1974 was the final straw. Also Orthodox Greek Church which is fully recognized by the Greek Government got shit mad on what Turks did to Agia Sofia. Turkey will from now on control the balkans and Greece is about 10 years will have to ablige with either doing what turkey says and working with them so at least greek doesn’t have an enemy or keep trying to fight a country that will soon outnumber them 1/10 people. @@eatinsomtin9984 it's tough, i'm german-turk so it's good when Turkey takes more control in the region and if Greece is more forced to work together with TR. But Greece is doomed, alot of their money goes into simply keeping the debt at the same rate, because interest rates on 200% debt will obviously make it grow alot. Italy has a similar issue, but not that worse. In an Idealistic world the EU would come together and buy all of Greece's debt or buy it and restructure it so that the interest rates are super low but i guess then Greek Politicians would continue to make dumb decisions.

Your video in general is pretty accurate (especially where you show that despite popular belief Greece remains a first-world country), but imo it reflects 2015 public opinion in Greece more than 2022 public opinion. Right now, if you add up the electoral share of all parties that want Grexit, you would have about 10%. While it is true that in 2015 maybe a majority of Greeks would be open to leaving the Eurozone, nowadays it is a non-issue, with no major party supporting the idea, and it is never discussed as a solution among normal Greek people. TLDR: Grexit in 2022 Greece and Europe is as unlikely as covid magically disappearing tomorrow

As long Greece uses Euro, it will never really recover. Normally, a country would've devaluated its currency to make its economy more competitive. Sad to see Greece transform from a moderately complex economy to a dumb tourism economy like some sort of Caribbean island.

overall a good video but many inaccuracies on the economic side. A big one was that greece had a 50% debt cut which wasnt even close if you examine the details of the deal

11:22 soooo you mean the next century will be just like the past ten have been? Boring! Plus, this has pretty much always been the case. Greece has a record of beating much greater foes than itself and even in 1821 one could say that the Revolutionaires were just crazy and would definitely lose.

Yea. Economics have taken a bad turn for everyone. There are many allowances that are being given and probably go unappreciated. Like KEA and the allowance for crippled people. The first should perhaps be stopped and the second reduced because so many people are getting fired from the private sector for instance and it's not fair for them. The state should save as much as it can but also make sure that all have a roof over their heads and a plate of food availiable.

Your video was pretty good and accurate until you started talking about the crisis like it’s still 2015. It’s not. It’s 2022. This video came out 6 months ago, so I don’t understand the pessimism. Also, seriously, since grexit didn’t happen in 2015, you can be damn sure it’s not going to happen now. And Greece leaving the west for Russia? Because we are both orthodox? Come on man that is just laughable. Greece is out of the crisis, stop perpetuating something that is just not relevant anymore.

Germany's austerity was the wrong strategy for Greece... It started slow but kept going and going until the taxes went insane. The indirect bankruptcy of 2012 with the PSI cut was potentially worse than a real bankruptcy cause it just put the debt cycle in a loop. Now after the pandemic , combined with the energy crisis, Greece will face problems again... If there is no actual debt cut it is a matter of time to have the same problems.
