The transformation we have seen from Russell since Canada has been intriguing and since his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, are we now seeing the results of some serious self development? So what are his tactics moving forward, should he push for wins or pick up points slowly but surely and climb up the order?
So lets look at a big question, Has George Russell Rebooted Himself?

Can Russell get another win before the season's end?

I hope so 🤞 people throw so much shade at him because of his personality, but he has, if he can find the right balance between all or nothing and picking up the pieces, the potential to be sensational

@@JeremyDepain-pk8wg he a really fun and good guy. I hate how much people shit on him. even when they say "he crumbles in big moments" he still puts himself in big moments. Its such a flawed reason to shit on him.

On merit? Yes. BUT only if the Merc is significantly ahead on pace. If the top teams have a similar pace Max will edge them. Some ppl will be unhappy to hear that but it's the truth.

I have seen the biggest change in George during the summer break last year. Before that he didn't seem relaxed off track and it also therefore resulted in how things went on track. Since then he seemed to have found a better balance and enjoy it while being focused on performing. Obviously the results didn't really came but as you already said it seems like he has been working on that with especially Canada being an important lesson. He sort of has everything working with him in terms of Lewis leaving and Lewis struggling with the tyres; it provides the perfect opportunity for George to go that extra step. Curious to see where it will take George, one way or the other he will have another important challenge coming up with his new team mate. So every bit of performance to show that he has it is important now.

Anyone who knows anything about F1 and anyone who has watched his career, knows he's a top driver and talent. Given an equally fast car, he'd cause anyone a problem. Brits hanging their hat on Norris is very short sighted. Russell is criminally underrated.

I’ve been a fan of his since his William days but I almost ended up hating him bc of his ego once he joined Mercedes but he’s definitely made bounds towards maturity this year and I’m proud to be a 63 fan

I think it's a bit soon to say George has definitely learned to be more patient--as recently as Canada he has let pressure get the better of him. However, he might be trending in that direction. It reminds me of a saying I hear relating to other team sports: take what the opponent is giving you. That might sound completely irrelevant here, but at a more abstract level, it suggests not forcing things and taking what is there, to avoid making costly mistakes. Mercedes have a competitive car, but not necessarily a winning car. George needs to be opportunistic, and get what he can. The wins wlll come. Lando and Max won't take each other out every race, but track battles have a funny way of opening doors: see just the last race in Spain.

Your point related to Max only being beaten by others making a mistake is completely true. It's funny that at the first proper opportunity the only person to do it has been Lewis Hamilton. Will be looking forward to see if Oscar is the one able to mount the challenge to Max providng Mclaren don't continue to throw his strategy out the window.

It's the car that needs a reboot, not him

It's weird, because it almost seems to me like when under pressure, George focuses so hard on what he's doing that he loses focus... if that makes sense. Like when following Alonso in Australia or Norris in Singapore, he focuses so much on what's right in front of him that he forgets to maintain his awareness of the situation. I get the impression that the cause of this is trying to push himself too much. I've always felt a bit bad for George how once he finally got into the seat of the Mercedes permanently, the car was pretty rubbish. I'm glad he has a better car now, and while he's been driving quite well this season, the mistakes have prevented him from achieving his maximum results. I think the win has taken a bit of pressure off and I hope we see fewer of those mistakes as the season plays out.

Poor George seems to have en emotional weakness when under pressure that results in mistakes that robs him of a good place finish however hes ok when collecting a " Steven Bradbury" gold medal when the leaders take themselves out.

Mercedes being somewhat of a "pressure-free" environment for George Russell is a bit of an illusion. Way the development is going, they surely expect more from him than just beating Piastri or Perez. Add to that a somewhat uncertain future which may well see Russell NOT being "the future of Mercedes" and Lando clearly being the darling of every underaged English F1 "fan"... nope, George has it all to do now, and fast! ;)
