I mean I wouldn’t say not trending, the cars are costing 30k+ average haha chasers Silvia’s rx7’s FB’s FC’s and FD’s any RWD Jdm 90s early 00s car is just to expensive it’s sad to see.
I imported my R33 GTR about 3 years ago and would only take it out on night drives when there are barely any traffic or cars on the expressway. Even then, I'm guaranteed to have a couple people giving thumbs up, follow me around to see the car, and/or try to race me. So I would say they have not lost their charm, especially in the US.
If EU remove its strick emission standards then I think there will be a JDM comeback older cars did not have to come with hybrid systems etc just raw engine powered by fuel and air.... Look at Mitsubishi what have they become!? Mazda is innovating but it's new rotary might be a hybrid... An example, The rx8 was supposed to come with a turbo but it produced too much CO2 and did not meet EU emission standards and mazda had to remove the turbo... Sad
Indeed, the stringent emissions standards have significantly shaped the automotive landscape. It's a complex issue, but hopefully, future advancements will lead to a better balance between environmental concerns and preserving the essence of classic car performance.
