Jokic doesnt block shots, but he is the best deflector in the league, and always among the top in steals... Skip is just a senile ol' hater. Edit: Jokic is not a world class blocker, but a 7 footer with a larg wingspan, he is capable.of blocking shots, he just doesnt have the verticality to do it in large volume. He does have a record 3 or 4 game winning blocks-season if I recall right.

Embiid is a playoff sinker, Jokic is a playoff riser. Jokic is the most consistent offensive player in the league and you can expect him to be available. His defense is nowhere near Embiid’s but it has been good enough so far

Embiid's defense is not good enough and Jokic's defense is not bad enough to where their defense isn't really that far off from each other. Embiid gets cooked in the playoffs by faster players anyways. JT absolutely cooked Embiid while Jokic didn't let Booker and KD do that to him. Embiid is the better shot blocker and that's like the only edge he has on Jokic defensively but in the playoffs where guys just draw you out to the perimeter, Embiid's shot blocking ability gets neutralized and he becomes just as useless as Jokic on the perimeter. So come playoff time, Jokic's offense is way better than Embiid's offense, and Embiid becomes just as useless as Jokic on defense. So it's Jokic by a landslide

I think Giannis should have gotten MVP. They ended the season with the top record in the league and his stats were great. Quite bold to say Jokic is the best player in the league. He's smart, skilled and consistent, but when the stakes are high there are several players whom you'd pick before him. As proven by the fact that even with his two, almost three mvps, he's never been even to the nba finals. Jokic deserved the MVP over Embiid. Go look at their win-shares on Basketball Reference. 14.9 for Jokic and 12.3 for Embiid. Going into the stretch run, most people were picking Jokic for MVP. That immediately changed once Kendrick Perkins started turning the MVP race into a racial issue (white vs. black). People then started pumping Embiid's tires because they didn't want anyone to look at them as racist, even though it was ridiculous.

I think Giannis is the better offensive and defensive player by a very slight margin but Jokic is the best overall player. Giannis can't do what Jokic does. I have never seen a center who can pass like him and who shoots from perimeter and three point line so efficient on such a consistent basis. He should've won the MVP, not Embiid. Nikola can't put the punishment on guys like Giannis can. LeBron has dominated Jokic on drives to the basket many times. But Jokic needn't to be physical. He is so much more skilled. I think he is the only center ever who could be put at the point and still impact the game as he does.

No argument here. He's a role model for the next generation, and for me, is the point that matters. The dude doesn't even care about accolades. He just wants to win, help his team, and do his job. People want to hang everything on that game in Philly so desperately. No one wants to mention that Jokic was dealing with a knee injury, wrist injury, and still recovering from covid but at least he was man enough to show up and play. Embiid knows that all it takes is just one game where Jokic exposes him in Denver, and he loses any edge he has against Jokic in head to head matchups. So he keeps ducking games in Denver to avoid this possibility, only playing the matchup in Philly where things are more in his favor. And if he was avoiding Denver before, he sure isn't ever going to show up now, the whole arena will be calling him fraud MVP and deep down he'll know they're correct.

All I heard from guys like Skip all year was, 'all I can say is watch the games,' without adding any context as to what they actually wanted you to watch when it came to these guys. Well it gives me great joy right now after having watched every Nuggets and 76ers playoff game this year to so to Skip and all those folks who said that, 'all I can say is watch the games.' :)

Clearly Jokic isn't the better individual defender than Embiid. Also clearly, Jokic plays good enough defense to the point that his Nuggets are the 5th best defense in the postseason with him playing between 36-42 minutes a game. The defense argument is poor because good defense is largely based on coaching schemes. The Nuggets' effective defensive rotation wins them games. Great individual contributions aren't as necessary for them. Jokic plays the Nuggets rotational style of defense very effectively, so much so that he was the top center in steals in the regular season, and top 10 in deflections. The 76ers scheme allowed Joel to come weak side and get incredible blocks once his teammate's man beat him. They're different styles. Ultimately, Jokic is incredibly better on offense than Embiid, so again, Jokic is better than Embiid.

Even after Embiid was a no show in the most important game of the season, Skip still thinks Embiid is better??!? The excuse for his no show is "he was injured because my source said so". He also brings up ONE game against Jokic when he was dominate, no question about that, but when it was time to play in Denver, he no showed (again). Embiid hasnt played in Denver since 2019 because I guess he is terrified of the altitude and Jokic crushing him at home.
