We are in progress but far behind Nigeria economically. That's a fact. In terms if power supply we are very fine too. We even furnish electricity to The Gambia and Guinea. With the new ressources discovered recently we will go further in term of development
Don't be gullibly indoctrinated by what you hear on the internet. The currency devaluation, which I strongly believe is transitory, is wrecking havoc on Nigeria's economy. When the currency gets back to normal, don't be taken aback if Nigeria's economy skyrocket to 1 trillion dollars as severally speculated by Bloomberg.
Senegal is been develop not today ..perhaphs you are late to travel outside ..secondly this people are not competitive like other Africans thats the difference
My only issue is that people always like comparing their cities to Nigerian cities but most of these African country have just 3 or 4 cities where they put all their energy into modernizing and beautifying. But Nigeria can boast of about 60 cities that its trying to modernize. Almost every state has two great cities. In Abia, you have Aba and Umuahia. In Anambra, you have Onitsha and Awka. In Kaduna, you have kaduna and zaria, etc etc. these is excluding hundreds of other local government capitals that amenities are being improved by state governments. We may not have one mega functioning city, but we sure have decentralized our development to many cities unlike senegal, ivory coast etc that can only boast of 4 or 5 cities.
You better leave them. Once we survive our economy crises, we will use all our available strength to develop more than them. And every inches of our country will be developed
Only Nigerians know of those other cities, quite like Nigerians also only know the largest cities in other African countries. The rest of us just know Abuja and Lagos.
Fortunately this video was made by a Nigerian not a Senegalese.I see people saying that Senegal is a small country that’s why it’s easier to develop. Is China not big enough then to be poor? How about the US?Who has been to other cities of Senegal.FYI those small cities are more electrified than the Lagos I used to go before 2015.Just say with corruption Nigeria would have been better than it is.Because that corruption starts at the Seme border.
i love senegal as a nigerian, ive been to Dakar few times for vacation and business from the US Senegal has a very long way to go in terms of development please dont get them in trouble with over hype other than coming from the airport i cant count on any other good roads night life on the othe end is amazing, people are loving and respectful

Nigeria has 36 States which are considered subnationals with varied economic capacities. These states are like small countries within a larger big country. Lagos State has an economy that is the fourth largest in the continent. Kano, Anambra, Abia, etc, have impressively good GDP too but very much smaller than Lagos. So, Nigeria is a complex country of vast tapped and untapped economic opportunities. A sleeping lion is still potentially dangerous to mess with. Nigeria Mau be going through its fair share of economic crises. However, it will bounce back strongly soonest once the country sorts out its misfortune with bad leadership. Our entertainment industry (music, movies and fashion) grosses a lot in revenue. The $20 billion-Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals is the largest single train refinery in the world which promises to generate good money for the country in terms of GDP as it peaks to achieve its installed capacity of 650,000 barrels a day. BUA is building half that size of a refinery in Akwa Ibom State too. So, do not mess with a sleeping lion. Nigeria remains the Giant of Africa both in population and economic terms.
I really don't understand why people always argue about Nigeria being referred to as Giant of Africa... Ghana is known as the Gateway to Africa, Ghana is neither 1st nor 2nd most visited country in the continent... Cameroon is called Africa in miniature... it is not the most diverse country. South Africa chose to call themselves Rainbow Nation. *If today Nigeria chose to be known as Bird of Africa, people like you will still make videos about why Nigeria is not the Bird of Africa because there are more birds in some certain countries.
Nigeria is the giant of Africa, but Nigeria is letting Mother Africa down. About 18.5 million children are not in school in Nigeria. MILLIONS live in poverty. We need a Giant of Africa that takes good care of all its citizens. It is unacceptable that millions of Nigerians live in poverty.
Giant isa mighty name and Nigeria is not qualified to be a giant because they don't have the qualities If Nigeria and Nigerians are desperate to be called giant then they should learn from America & china Note: being a Giant is not by population 👎
They are talking that Nigeria has the largest economy in Africa only because of oil production but in term of standard of living they re far behind in Africa. The oil benefit goes in few pockets!
South Africa, is the unheralded "giant of Africa" and it's economy is larger than Nigeria. I believe in "quality" over "quantity". Senegal is known to be safe and tourist friendly, politically stable with a sensible leadership. Chief, I agree with you, "quality of life matters" - this is why China and other Asian countries are working hard to improve the lives of their citizens. I am glad to see that Senegal has recognised this is important too.

south africa economy is not larger than Nigeria. GDP (PPP) Is the economy within a country Nigeria GDP ppp = 1.4 trilllion southafrica GDP ppp - 900 billion nigeria norminal gdp fell because it devalued it currency but Nigeria is currently rebasing it norminal gdp like southafrica did in 2021 nigeria, will be larger.
@isiahjean-bawptiste434 , wtf who told you America is helping china lol, if we are talking about help here Nigeria would have been heaven now because we gets a lot of help here from china
The size of a country is not the most important. Many african countries are smaller than western countries. But everybody see the reality. Nigeria is late because it has more ressources (population,oil,...etc) for decades now. So it was supposed to develop easily. Senegal was built without oil. Now they have oil and gaz, where will they be in decades ?
To be fair, Nigeria has 200 plus people to take care of. That it has to supply power to. That it has to provide jobs to. That it has to provide transportation to. That it has to provide housing to. That is has to provide healthcare to.
You think Nigeria is referred to as Giant of Africa because gas and oil. Is there any country in Africa that has contributed to help sister countries financially and humanly as much as Nigeria? When some Africans counties were in civil unrest, Nigeria deployed her military to those countries.. Liberia and Serria Lone are two examples. Nigeria isn't competing with Africans but the world.
In my opinion, when one compares oneself to another, one commits violence against oneself! What's really important! Is the question. Am exigency is a demanding situation which requires immediate attention!

"For decaceds Nigeria has held the..." Nothing could be further than the truth. Nigeria was the no 1 economy between 2014 and 2023, making it the Giant of Africa for A decade, not decades. Second, what measures are you using to determine what country is and isn't a giant of the economic region. A reasonable, rational and logic person would look at the following: 1. Development status 2. Economy 3. Natural resources 4. HDI 5. Crime rate If those tests are applied, there is only one rational answer, that being South Africa; the only country in Africa that is not part of the 3rd world. It has the most developed economy, the second most natural resources after the DRC, the 7th highest HDI and the highest crime rate on the continent. All of that, plus a population of 60 million should hinder South Africa, yet it has not. That's what a true Giant is
Some of these Nigerians are part of the problem, always comparing Nigeria to other African countries. To be a giant means what the country is capable of doing as a collective. The lvory coast you lot are singing it praises their embassador is visiting innoson motors as we speak.Abuja has a longer metro than this, you guys have never gone their to make a video, except kenneth.Lagos is building both red line and phase two of blue line l do not see you singing lyrical about it.Nigeria is developing more than 72 cities simultaneously unlike most countries with less than 10 cities.lf Nigeria was putting everything in building 10 or 20 cities like other countries no country in Africa would come close. The only thing l wish Nigerian leaders take seriously like other countries is the environment, urban renewal. If all Nigerian cities look like Abuja, then people will truly see the giant that's in Nigeria.
No more excuses. China has built many more cities. Nigeria has larger land and population than the other African countries. If a small country develops 5 cities, Nigeria must develop 15 cities, because of Nigeria's larger size in land and population. No excuses for Nigerians.
No matter how heaters Mumu like you guys think about Nigerias. Naija still giant of Africans go and hug transformer next to your area.. even people you're hyper.. there country they don't care about you..( no English 😂)bezc you act on mature person .😊
I get am be4 no be property, we ain't the giant of African no more. Companies are leaving us every month. Our economy discourages foreign investments. Let's not even talk Abt electricity.
Bro you are just in one city in Senegal, but Nigeria boasts of more than sixty cities that are developed enough to compete with Dakar apart from lagos and Abuja, so what's your point 😢, Senegal is a glorified village compared to Nigeria
Nigeria still remains the giant of Africa despite her current challenges if you are talking about countries in Africa with the most developed cities Nigeria occupies the top position with hundred of cities namely Port Harcourt, Uyo, Calabar, Kaduna,Awka, Enugu, Owerri,Kano,Asaba, Ibadan, Akure, Abakaliki, etc
So u think in ur mind that Nigerians is still the giant of Africa bro is not now that was then Nigeria is the lowest in Africa today many companies have close down there business because high interest rates insecurity, lack of electricity,, Naira money is low, high cost of living, fuel pump price and gas very costly etc
@@idokojoel7293 you are a mumu you are talking about companies closing down but you don't even know that there are more local and foreigner companies in Lagos alone than in Senegal
Why you so obsessed with the giant title, this is the second time you're mentioning this but if you're obsessed so much just take it coz it's a free world say what you want but i bet it's what it is.
Brother, just because you build a train that goes through Dakar, it does not mean that you are superior to Nigeria and are at European levels, Nigeria's HDI is higher than yours, since Nigeria has an HDI of 0.535 and Senegal has 0.511, furthermore that Lagos alone has more GDP than your entire country, also, travel throughout Africa and you will see that Senegal is an underdeveloped country
Let no deceive our self one of senega inventory was from ghana which I knew in Accra no body tell me no matter wat Nigeria remain giant when we have good govt
Nigeria(socialism) vs Senegal(capitalism). Who is developing faster, whats the answer? Gogo socialism more my Africana gogo lets have gigh birthrate and stronger socialism to live in poverty foreva😎
@@JustThinkingAboutIt isn't the faac allocation generally gotten from what the states make, and then shared again? I get what you mean though, every state should be responsible for generating revenue and handling everything then a portion would be paid to the federal government. what we practice now isn't sustainable
some states contribute basically nothing. all they do is wait for the allocation. basically just a handful generate any revenue and the rest just feed off then
I heard you say 'Senegal economy might be smaller but it's growing bla blah bla'', so how is it now competing with Nigeria as the giant of Africa? why not allow it reach the height first? I don't even see anything spectacular in this video, of course you just want to get the views with your caption. please don't post such shabby videos again look for something else to do if you don't have facts in your video, or go learn from Wade Maya or Tayo Aina
In your dream. Senegal 18 millions people, most are taking the route to the sea. Ivory Coast is the must visit country. Nothing to do with your Senegal.
No time ror shi't. Tchruuuuuu
nigeria has a traditionl leaders they dont know how to make a country to look good,am african musilum but TINUBU should have not been a president of nigeria, nigeria need a young and handsome president who can tranxform it
Lag ibadan train is faster than that train. Lagos has 2 working metro plus the Lagos ibadan SGR and then a old narrow gauge...comparing only Dakar to the entire Nigeria is like apple and oranges,Lagos alone dwarfs Dakar even if its not the capital. Even Abuja roads are way more efficient than the entire Senegal. We can celebrate both countries with shitting on Nigeria. Selah.
Nigerians claim to be the giant of Africa but they dont developments are happening in Senegal,Tanzania,Ghana,Rwanda,Gabon these nations dont talk about doing there but progess is happening while Nigeria is still behind in various sectors only nigerians are giants is just their Creative and Entertainment industry which is booming but no there economy i am all the way from Tanzania.
Modernize is not just the cities the people in villages are Senegaleses as well, and they have right to live nice as well. Marocco is the only well organized and developed until the borders. Africa is rich deserve better for all Africans not just in the cities
Funny part is non of you is the giant of Africa. One of you can easily qualify as the West African gaint, but you still have a long way to reach the level of SA, Morroco and Egypt.
Exactly. The vast majority of his video revolves around making provocative comments about Nigeria just to generate revenue for himself, knowing fully well that people would like to click on video that speaks negatively about Nigeria.
@@okesegun2118 absolutely. Other RU-vidr would go other countries enjoy them self feel the environment. But this one lol 😂 and he complaining about money and help.
How much is a kilowatt of electricity in senegal.how much is a litre of fuel , how much does it cost to rent a decent 2 bedroom flat.pls educate us before you confuse people.
You are very young and well-intentioned but we cannot compare Senegal and Nigeria. The economy of the city of Lagos alone is several times larger than that of Senegal. I repeat the GDP of Lagos> GDP Senegal. Nigeria is much more richer than you can imagine , but the country is led by uncompetent thieves like Tinubu as senegal is led by very young and idealist people who love their country and want to developp it that is why Nigeria look poor . Nigeria is declining and will decline again because they do not understand how immportant it is to vote the competent leaders , they say it is time for a Yorouba and then they pick one , as now in other african countries people are trying to pick competence .
Giant isa mighty name and Nigeria is not qualified to be a giant because they don't have the qualities If Nigeria and Nigerians are desperate to be called giant then they should learn from America & china Note: being a Giant is not by population 👎
So Senegal have joined the list of African countries trying to compare themselves to Nigeria 🤦🏾♂️ Bro is making a video in one city in Senegal (the capital city for that matter) never went to other cities, meanwhile Nigeria has over 10 cities that you can make same videos lol, also its easier to focus your development and management in just one city (Dakar, which is, again, the Capital city) than doing the same in more than the 10 cities here in Nigeria, so yea big ups to Nigeria actually
The real question should be which country economy is controlled by black people. It's certainly not South africa or senegal. Nigeria is the only country in Africa that the economy is majority control by black people.
@alywadd1605 name all the large companies that are controlled by Senegalese. Name one that's value 100 million or more. Most of the largest companies are controlled by France.
Until Africa is not beautiful and organized like Marocco is nothing outside capital roads are bad to the borders are all bad no even petrol stations or roads in most of the villages.
Giant of Africa is Marocco all organized not any of those countries that dont even have decent borders in their countries or motorways. Go lie somewhere!!
