Good words. I look at "grace" differently than most. Not as another term for mercy or charity, but that of a pressing endurance. A strength which is developed like a ballerina is termed grace-ful. That is just how I see it. Shalom 😊
The way that dealing with "the least" drains empathy is alarming. When I think of how frustrated I become with just a few rotating people in my care, it actually amazes me that God is able to keep any sympathy whatsoever. I have to take a 4 day weekend every month just to remember that I do care about the people I work with. People with zero reason to lie looking you dead in the eyes and lying anyway is hard on the empathy-bone.
@@grcleve7053 I work at a homeless shelter and there are certain maladaptive behaviors that are a constant. Its not all of them but the norm is lying. Its not all of them but the norm is to rob people and steal. The norm in the homeless community is to see people who help as suckers and the more you help the dumber they think you are. I went into it expecting the poor huddled masses the Statue of Liberty talks about. But really its 90% mitigating damage like overdoses, theft, vandalism, and abuse and 10% being able to help with applications for housing or giving advice. I can't think too much about the idea that people I help would steal from me if presented the opportunity or it makes me feel hard-hearted. I just have to make sure I bring nothing to steal and ignore that the possibility is there.
