As a Christian, love this. Because Christianity claims to fulfill human nature through union with Christ and repentance, this really applies to all people. John Piper's resources, and Doug Wilson's and Gary North's have helped me alot here. Randy Alcorn also has work on this.

Hey AJ, as someone who is intimately involved in my church (I lead worship there and work with youth), this is so true. My desire for a career change has come from wanting to learn skills that truly help people. It seems like CFP and finance is that. I just want to specialize in a useful area that truly benefits people while also proving lucrative for myself.

I believe you misrepresent hustle culture as you call it. The main goal is not the money but self development - this is a fight to be a better person, in your job but firstly mentally, physically and how you behave with friends and family. Also, I believe this is a very religion centric standpoint. For someone who doesn’t believe, spending time on such things is a waste of time (no offense). I think the main point is that your path to success is not detrimental to people around you, religion is an individual practice and nobody cares as long as you treat people right and you do good around you.

I don't think this topic is one that should be on your channel. You can do what you want of course but it doesn't give me the wow factor, nor does it reflect the very thing this channel is about. This channel is about making money. You spent your time and money learning about money in order to make money and save time. I am so sick and tired of other people trying to force their values on to me. From the time you were born to the time you die. you are always told what to do what to say, how to think,. It's no one's decision but mine about work-life balance. There's no such thing. We are not robots. If you want to be an average CFA schmuck then you do average CFA things. If you want to be a superstar CFA or super villain CFA then you do extra work. ESG is being smacked around because of people who think this way and want to push their agendas around with all of their money But even companies that oversee $3+ trillion. They are still being taken to task. No homeless person or person on welfare is happy in their life. It's great that you're good at picking stocks which is weird considering you make RU-vid videos but. Why do you feel you are the arbiter of other people's happiness/values and you base all of it on God? God has never used money. He has never needed money. He has never had to pay rent. God is pretty useless if you ask me. When a baby is first born the mother will say it's perfect but to God that baby has already sinned. It just popped out and yet it must be saved 😂. The cycle goes like this you work hard and your wealth goes to your kids because you're too afraid to spend it. The world shames you if you do not give but the government will always take. they spend all of it and then the next gen has to work hard and gain wealth. Every charity has their hand out and every RU-vidr has a course to sell or affiliate link to click. You don't succeed in life with butterflies wings and flower petals. You get to the top with teeth and claws. I know it's not fun to stay in your lane but your channel will do a lot better if you do.

As someone who is a strong Christian and wants to pursue the CFA, I've been thinking a lot about this very thing. Am I pursuing the CFA for the love of money? Or do I truly love finance? What I'm trying to decide is if this huge commitment it worth it. Thanks for your input. I love the C.S. Lewis quote, "aim at heaven and you'll get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you'll get neither."

Great video! I'm agnostic, but I was raised as a Christian. A lot of that upbringing still colors my worldview a bit. As finance folk, I know we think about a country's success relative to its rGDP/Capita. Higher rGDP/Capita does improve livability, but it does seem to come with a sacrifice: an individualistic culture vs a collectivist culture (Chiao and Blizinsky 2009). In tandem with that relationship is one that also shows that more individualistic countries tend to have higher rates of depression (Chiao and Blizinsky 2009). So to bring it back to your point, at least in aggregate, I do think that there is something to us feeling like we have something missing, though we may be pursuing greater success and greater sums of money. Having a Church family, relationship with God, spending more time at the Mosque or Temple and truly engaging/supporting with your local communities/neighbors may be the types of actions that we should continue to retain, while climbing the ladder of success. It's easy to just go home every day and shut the world off after a long day of work. We may have to be a bit more proactive. But I could be 100% wrong lol Just my two cents
