It honestly made me think.... Lebron's the greatest winner then in sports history He has the money, He has the Fame, He has the recognition of being a Top 3 all time some say #1 most say #2, He has his family in tact, he has his childhood friends turned into multimillionaire business partners, he has his Foundations, He has generational wealth. If i look at Hassan's Description of winning nobody fits that more clearly than Lebron, he has the fame, accolades and career success of Jordan and Kobe without any of the family and social issues that any of them suffered. His marriage is not falling apart like Tom brady's hes not embarrassed of his son's athletic ability like Jordan was. Theres not a lot of "what ifs" when evaluating his career like with Shaq, Kobe. his name wasn't dragged through the mud with baby mama drama like Ronaldo, he's not considered a great failure because he didnt win the big game like Messi.

That was possibly the greatest segment of this podcast so far. Yes, winning is important. But at what cost? If you are excelling in your environment with your job, family, and life then are you really “losing”? Just cause you’re not the last team remaining? Nah fam there’s far more to life than winning a game. The sooner the culture realizes that the better.
@keely-lornekirby7370
@keely-lornekirby7370 Год назад
You can still acknowledge all of that and still say championship or bust…. It sounds like a major cope, to just say “well I’m happy either way because I still got my money, fam, friends, ect….” Not to mention excelling in their job is literally what they do to try win a championship, I feel like you’re being so disingenuous to competitive spirit of sports and the thousands of hours they’ve put into it just to get to that point. You call it “a game”, they call it their livelihood.
@corduroycrook
@corduroycrook Год назад
@@keely-lornekirby7370 but that point anything besides winning is cope. Yes the game is their livelihood but do you think thats all they base their sense of self from? Or better yet is it healthy to pressure guys to only be fulfilled with something only 2% of athletes will obtain? I think its really reductive and harmful to think the "spirit" of sports is worth the mental, physical, and emotional anguish that we (fans and media) use as a yard stick for greatness.
@keely-lornekirby7370
@keely-lornekirby7370 Год назад
@@corduroycrook why play then? If you put thousands of hours into honing your craft, just to be like “I actually don’t care if I win”… yeah fans are wild, and say some ridiculous stuff, but you’re acting like these nba players are children that need to be coddled. No one asked these men to play the game, they chose this life and everything that came with it, to say we use it as “a yard stick for greatness” is just what happens when you play any sport at that high a level. What’s the point in playing if your ultimate goal isn’t to be holding that trophy at some point in your career? They’re not being pressured into thinking that, it’s just humans competitive nature, they wouldn’t get to where they are now if they didn’t enjoy the grind it takes to win.
@corduroycrook
@corduroycrook Год назад
@@keely-lornekirby7370 why play/what's the point? Because according to google the minimum salary for a player with 2 years of experience is 1.8 million dollars and thats alot more than most desk jobs. It's a way to make a living just like every other job. Only difference is this one pays at a premium and I'm sure the overwhelming majority of players enjoy the game to some extent.
