Asmongold falling through the right wing pipeline has been one of the big disappointments of 2024. It started earlier, sure, but this year has really solidified the brainrot.

I've watched Asmongold's games related content and it's generally good... except when it comes to the subject of "woke" stuff in games, when his less liberal opinions start to emerge. The issue here isn't that Asmongold believes nothing, it's that he subscribes to an ideology in which nothing can be determined as good, and an end in itself, to which any set of means are justifiable, even if they transgress legality. His main objection throughout has been, "Yes I believe protestors are allowed to protest. But how can they enforce their beliefs on others? That's crazy. What if everyone does that?" This line of argument can only seem sound if you are coming from the position that all protests and actions are morally neutral, whether it's white supremacists doing it or anti-war protestors doing it. They're the same to Asmongold, from an absolute standpoint. There's no possible way to determine whether or not an action is good, and therefore, everyone is allowed to vocalize their desire for anti-war or white supremacy, but neither of them are allowed to push their beliefs. The only thing we CAN do, he says, is vote or abstain from purchases; but this of course runs into a massive problem, namely the empirical and historical fact that voting or boycotting would have NEVER achieved the outcomes of the end of slavery, the civil rights movement, the end to apartheid, woman's sufferage, etc. If Asmongold actually liked these outcomes, he can't just posture as neutral to all possible outcomes and defend only the system of voting or the "free market" as the neutral medium through which an outcome will justify itself by virtue of that medium; you have to actually posit certain outcomes as good and desirable IN ITSELF. His logic, such as it is, would literally render the North as the "aggressors" in the Civil War, because they were "pushing their ideas" and encroaching on the property rights of slaveowners, who were, at the time, in their full legal right.
