My buddy Dan Classic found his old Hasbro WWF wrestling ring and gave it to me. It looked like crap, so I decided it would be a great idea to save it and bring it back to it's former glory!

wow, i cant believe how well it come up after the oven cleaner! awesome finish. Actually got one of these here in the shed, still in the box and never opened. Likely never will be!

I got lucky with this ring bc my grandma would go to yard sales and she bought one for me and my brother around 91 or 92 bc she knew we had the wrestlers but no ring and it was in good shape.. she was awesome she got us all the He-man action figures and the all the Accessories.. good times lol

I chronicled my younger Brothers Hasbros on my channel, but unfortunately his Son broke the ring. I wanted a shot at repairing it, but he threw it out, ugh! So great that you took the time and effort to resurrect this classic toy. I mean Dan Classic toy. Thanks for sharing.

I know what you mean. Dan also had some Hasbros that had the same problem, I asked him if I could restore them and he said they were beyond restoration, and tossed them Before I met up with him. I just keep thinking of how I could have restored them 😂

Fantastic work on this project! I always wanted the LJN Sling 'Em Fling 'Em ring but never got it. Ultimately ended up designing and building my own 2'x 2' ring, which I think is better, but I would still love one of these original rings for nostalgia's sake.

This ring was so expensive in my country when i was a kid so, my dad built one for me. It was made of wood with white ropes. Good times......

I managed to snag the yellow King of the Ring ring from a buddy a few months back. Never realized it was as rare as it was after looking it up so I ended up paying a decent price for it(he had no idea either and I wasn't gonna rip him off). Pretty nice shape as well. Basically the exact same ring as this one, as far as I can tell, except yellow and different decals.

When I was a kid I has some of the WWF figures, my uncle promised me he'd buy me the ring. But he bought me a WCW ring instead that was meant for WCW figures. I played with my WWF figures with the WCW ring but within a few moths the WCW ring fell apart because it was a much weaker ring.

@@RazHolly The WCW ring really sucked. It was awful and playing my WWF figures on it was a terrible miss-match. The WCW ring was too crap for repair. It was thrown in the trash years ago.

I had the WWF ring, and my neighbor had the WCW ring, and I can confirm the WCW ring was garbage. It had buckled in the middle within a week. Funny story; I was at a yard sale around 1990 and bought a ring that was better than both the WWF and WCW rings. I had no idea what that ring was until years later, when I found out it was the LJN ring.

Wait! I'd searched everywhere for a ring without the platforms atop the posts (like in the ads)! Was this a custom job? GREAT WORK!!! I love this video! More! BTW, for anyone found in a broken post situation, I'd broken many posts in my childhood and learned that a standard number 2 pencil sized object is the perfect brace, as glue alone always wore off due to the constant tension of the ropes.

I think you’re talking about the posts with the square tops? Those are later releases, these posts are original to the ring. That’s good to know about the pencil, I never thought about that

You could also put a few layers of Mod Podge over top the stickers to seal them and make them scuff and scratch proof.

The value for these rings are sky high right now. Best option is getting a beat up one and restoring it. I got a ring, flag, belt and stickers for under $80.

I found the file online, but had to print them a bit smaller. I measured the WWF outline on the ring, and printed the sticker sheet to make sure it fit

After the black and white sample, I printed it in color and laminated the sheet with LamiLable, a lamination sheet with sticky back

I was just careful about it from the bottom. These days I would use heat or very warm water to make the ring more pliable

eBay. You can get the cords a bit bigger or smaller if you can’t find the exact size it’ll still work :)

Use a hair dryer to heat up glue on stickers when you remove stickers.

I was getting ready to restore a ring, so thanks for posting! I was just going to use simple green to clean it. I don't have any paint on mine. Any advantage to using oven cleaner over something like simple green?
