Tanjiro uses breath of the sun. Flame hashira use ‘flame’ breathing. They are different breathing techniques. Tanjiro s form of breathing was used by only one other person and got passed down from that person into his family. His family members weren’t samurai like him so they couldn’t unlock it’s full potential. Until he came along.

I mean, technically, yes. *Tanjirou does use Fire Breathing* . The reason why the naming for breathing techniques is so ridged - like how Flame Breathing can't be called Fire Breathing - is because of the fact that the words *Fire* and *Sun* have *the same Katakana spelling* ; so because this all evolved from a Japanese Manga, *you can call it either Sun Breathing or Fire Breathing and still be correct* . Incidentally, this is also the reason why they changed it from Fire Breathing to Flame Breathing so as not to get the two breathing styles mixed up. We English speakers just call it Sun Breathing because Sun and Fire aren't spelled the same with our alphabet.

It wasnt a fire breathing but i can tell many people thinks that, soo for anyone wondering what it really was, it was a sun breathing that only Tanjiro, his father (Tanjuro) and Yoriichi knows about or should i say Rengoku (Hashira) and Kokushibo (brother of Yoriichi) too
