Love your work sweater. I wear the most messed up, old, tattered clothes when gardening. My neighbors probably think Im crazy poor but I feel rich watching my garden grow.
Lol...yes! My sweaters are always in bad shape, but they are comfortable. I also do not care what I get on them either, and that could be anything from grease to compost tea.
I think you should also trim some branches in the middle of the bush ? Thus you will have much more air circulation through the bush. Further, some tiny branches had to be trimmed , most of them will not bring any fruit. But anyway, you did a great job, a lot of work invested !
I remain skeptical about the need to prune Haskaps. It would be great to see a video showing the data on it, for example in year 2020 this bush yielded 3.374 kgs of berries with an average size of 1.6 grams per berry. Then do a follow up video the next season after pruning, for example in 2021 the same bush yielded X kgs of berries with an average size of x grams per berry. Taking a scientific approach to this and providing the results would go much further IMO as to whether or not pruning has a positive, negative, or neutral effect in terms of plant yield and berry size. Until then I guess the jury is out on whether it is beneficial to prune or not.
If I had a large acerage planting, and I was using a mechanical harvester, I probably would not prune unless I needed to change the shape of a plant. For the way we harvest we need to prune. There are so many variables that affect each year's berry production it would be difficult to prove, or disprove, if pruning has an effect. We do keep track of harvest yields from each row, each year. Maybe we see a difference, maybe we do not.
Are the older branches different in color. Because honestly I can't tell. Our are from.2013 as well and I have never trimmed them but now they are getting a bit narly.
I am going to try pruning my haskap. They are about 5 years old and have NEVER fruited (I have 6 of them) and I was going to pull them out, but first I will try pruning. Last year I pruned my fig tree (for the first time in 12 years) and it bore MUCH fruit, so maybe pruning will help my haskap.
