A point that’s lost out there, in the game prior, Boston was hunting Halliburton and it was effective. Offensively he’s great, but defensively he’s a nightmare you have to hide. That definitely impacted the gameplan for Boston with him being out, and Mazzula said in the post game they needed a bit to figure out what to do defensively different, which, even if they needed a half to do, they only let Indy score 42 the rest of the way. Wasn’t a pretty win, but, a very good litmus test for Celtics fans to feel confident this is a championship team as well as game one. The resiliency is there and it’s not always been there for them.
Facts Nembhard is a much better defender. If we play mavs they will attack Luka and Kyrie the same way they attacked Haliburton! Idk why the wolves aren’t doing it, don’t let them rest on defense. Make them work on both sides and it will take away from their scoring.

Jayson Tatum has averaged 26/9/6 in the playoffs over the last 5 seasons on 56% TS. And he's had plenty of clutch moments, no matter what people claim. There's a reason he's typically the best +/- guy on a team that's made four of the last five conference Finals and will probably end up in 2 of the last 3 Finals. But yet, for some reason people act like he's trash. He's not Jokic or Doncic, but he doesn't need to be. He's still a really good, complete player.

Tatum grew up thin as a finesse player. When he came into the league he was pike 6'9 209 lbs but now is like almost 230 lbs. He now has the tools to bully-ball but he doesnt have the decades of experience using that wieght. Give him an extra year and his bully ball game should be much more crisp. I still expect his step back game to be there because of habit but his game is evolving
Makes sense this has gone the way that it has. The Celtics are mostly healthy and the pacers had close games with my Knicks many times too. We were just in the receiving end alot and most ultimately. The team indiana is playing ultimately is healthy one. comparatively.

The big difference between Tatum and Luka is that Luka made the game winner the other day, besides that both, percentage wise, have been playing terrible, and you can throw Ant Man there too....basketball is a team sport, and their teams, overall, has been carrying these three guys. It sucks that they get all the Credit, while their teammates are almost never mentioned.

Indiana had the best offense in the league. People have way too high expectations on the Celtics, and it's ridiculous. Indiana was not some scrub offense. As a lifelong Boston fan i respect your perspective on your take on Tatum and the celtics. I will say this there are alot of celtics fans who hate Tatum for reasons i really dont understand. JT has done alot for the franchise in his 7 yrs even though he hasnt won the chip yet. Im a fan of both jays and we are fortunate to have both with the skillset they both provide. They are talented, athletic, and both are 2way allstars. They continue to improve every year and they have now started their athletic prime yrs at 26 and 27 yrs old. This team assembled has all the ingriedients to win the chip now just like the team had in 2008. That 08 team was stacked as well but struggled in the first 2 rds of the playoffs before winning the chip vs kobe and the lakers. I give alot of credit to the pacers they are playing really hard but the experience of the celtics is what is carrying them to this point. Celtics have been to the conference finals 3 straight yrs now and they need to get it done which i feel very very confident. Their defense will carry them through the finals👀

My personal guess: Many fans don't watch basketball regularly, because life demands them elsewhere or they choose to spend their time differently. So, they buy what the media and general public say and use it as basis to analyse what's going on the court. Missing Porzingis is also underestimated by most people. They know the Jays are the best players, but they don't know how much Mazula's playbook go through the space Porzingis generate in pick and pops and abusing mismatches in the post.

This was a great win by the Celtics they were down for majority of this game jrue and derrick white were struggling to hit their 3’s but down the stretch and find a way to win even though they had a lot working against them. And shoutout to Andrew Nembhard he had an incredible game and I believe when he leaves the pacers in two years he’s the next guard to go from role player to a star level player for example what happened with jalen brunson.

Say what you want about Tatum but he is leading the team in scoring, rebounds, and assists in the playoffs just like he did in the regular season....When he has an "off night" and only scores 23 he still pulls down double-digit boards and at min 6-7 assists....Its not Tatums fault that the Cs put together a good core and he doesn't need to ball out every night...Jaylen can, White can KP can when he comes back Horford can step up as can Jrue why would you put it on one when you don't have to?

The Celtics are 11-2 in the playoffs and have the third best playoff net rating of all-time. The only two teams they trail in playoff net rating are the 2017 Warriors and the 2001 Lakers. I'd say that's pretty good company. I get that they've played injured teams, but they've still been absurdly dominant. What else are they supposed to do right now?
Tatum is averaging 31/10/6 over his last 6 games. Bit of a slow start to the playoffs scoring wise but he’s been in a shooting slump for over a month and during the first two rounds he was still playing amazing defense and driving the offense with his playmaking. Although I agree, there is a very clear tier 1: Jokic, Luka, Giannis, regular season Embiid; tier 2: SGA, Brunson, LBJ, AD, Tatum, Steph, KD, playoff Embiid, you can make an argument for Ant to be here, but he had 1 good series against a weak defensive team and has sucked since then and middling in the regular season.

I just came across this video. Pretty good content if I may say. One thing I want to point out is I always laugh when I hear different content creators saying something to the effect of "I can't believe the Celtics aren't blowing these guys out" kind of thing, when you have to remember the Celtics are going up against other NBA Playoff teams, not high school or college teams. The other thing that drives me a little bananas is some content creators will make it seem like the Celtics are a little lucky that teams have been missing players, like in this case the Pacers don't have Halliburton. But the Celtics haven't had Kristaps Porzingis for several games in this playoffs. The fact that the Celtics are handling business without him shows how deep and versatile they are. Imagine the damage they would be doing if Porzingis had been in there the whole time. Go Celtics!!

@14:00, eye test tells a more compelling story than the boxscore. Second half, especially the back half of the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter, saw a much tighter defense from the Cs. They had 12 blocks total in the game and a big number of them were on drives into the paint in that period of time in the game as well as one or two on 3 point shots.

I think this team keeps nembhard over Benedict mathurin. Maybe recent biased but I think that’s the smart move. Mathurin looking like a Lou Will/Malik Monk typa career. Which is not bad! But can see him playing that bucket off the bench role going forward
