I have a hand cam snap thing from when I was making cloth diapers for my kiddo and completely forgot about using it for snaps! I may be able to get away with adding wooden buttons by using hot glue to front side of the snap or hand sewing it to the front side of the coat. You are super helpful, thanks so much! Also, those cloaks are amazing, I love them!

I've made the knit one already and used the elastic in the seam to attach to the button on the inside. The button has popped out of the elastic when I was wearing the cloak so I have to see what I can do to remedy it. I would love to see a video on making the lining.

Oh really? That's interesting, I wear mine a lot and that's never happened, even with the ones that are stretched out of shape. Maybe you need a bigger button?
