This video came out perfect timing! When I first started my 20g cube I rushed it and just quickly placed a pile of rocks in it. I’m finally thinking of changing it but nervous from people telling me not to stir up the sand bed; it will stress out the fish; corals will all die with new placement, etc.

That’s funny I literally just finished rescaping my 60 cube. I built my own aquascape using shelves and Marco rock, at first I had just a wall of rock. I cured it for 8 weeks before I put it in my existing tank. Now it looks so good.

The sand + very thin super glue method from Tidal Garden is probably the best to work with wet rock, for rescape rocks that already have coral encrusting.

I have just said that exact thing 🤣 rocks in, out, moved around, broken into bits (I now have more pebbles than rock), glued together and still hate it but at the same time thinking should I go bigger 🤣

Rescaping is hard when you have corals growing all over the rock already.

I have no artistic vision. I paid a marine biologist to come to my house and scape my tank. I was a bit nervous when he showed up with boxes and boxes of Life Rock arches but damn i love my aquascape

I want to remake a new reefscape with dry rocks, changing completely current live rocks in established tank. My question is: I do new reefscape outside tank with glue, I put new reefscape in a conteiner with same water of tank for a week, then I'll put in a tank Which bacterya or product do you suggest to avoid at minimum mini-cycle?

curing my dry rock aquascape in a parallel brute container is suggested. can i do it the other way around..?? building my dry aquascape in my upgraded aquarium , move all my current live stock in new DT ( no extra bio load ). And than run all my 4 year old used rock in the parallel brute container over time when monitoring phosphate and nitrate slowly removing old rock part by part.

You could certainly do that too :D

I’ve been interested in using Lava rock to create some habitat structures, not only because it is significantly cheaper, but it is also very pourus and lightweight. However I’ve heard some people say it leaches chemicals into the tank, so I’d probably soak the rock for a while before sculpting with it if I did use it, Was wondering what you guys think of lava rock
@BRStv
@BRStv 2 года назад
The potential issue with lava rock is that it originated deep within the earth, so it contains what we could presume would be a higher level of heavy metals.

I am pretty new what do you mean by let your rock cycle?
@BRStv
@BRStv 2 года назад
When we refer to cycling, we're usually talking about getting the beneficial bacteria established on the rock so that it can process the toxic ammonia and convert it to less toxic nitrites and nitrates. This helps protect the fish.

How would i seperate a piece of rock thats glued and epoxied down though?? Its a small tank i dont want to break the glass.
@BRStv
@BRStv 2 года назад
You won't want to glue or epoxy the rock to the tank itself. Rather, you can glue/epoxy the rocks to each other to form a structure, then place it in the aquarium.

its a slim line between natural and fantasy. I think alien like overhangs in all directions look overdone somewhat.
