This episode is proving that the haters never watch Mushoku Tensei at all.

This was so emotional man.... Rudeus was literally going to kill who ever he thought was bulling Norn and then the bedroom scene when he hears himself at the front door of her dorm oh god my heart 🥺

Am I the only one that got jumpscared by "Turning Point 3" appearing as next ep's title and even kinda flinched?

The haters will never be satisfied with Mushoku tensei, just ignore them and enjoy the show, it's peak isekai.

I love the original only bit of previous world Rudy yelling at current day Rudy. That alone was brilliant.

This episode was probably my favourite in terms of development for both Norn and Rudeus allowing both of them to close a chapter on their pasts.

Ngl for a sec when rudeus was in front of norns door and u heard past rudeus voice I thought it was some random dude in her room , and I was like ayoo wtf lmao

Even though Rudy's assumption of Norn's problem was slightly wrong, his response was right! He did the one thing first try that he thought was needed from his own brother in his past life. That alone was enough to help Norn get out of her funk. That is good character development.

I love how he was lying about forgiving whoever bullied her only to realize he was the problem.

The fact that he went out of his way to just fix the daily life for norn is just so satisfying. But honestly still, I relate with rudeus more than Norn

I loved that the episode title is a double meaning. It applies not only to Norn understanding Rudeus, but also Rudeus understanding his brother and his actions.

Rudy said he will stay for Norn now there is Turning Point 3😭😭 I don't know what's gonna happen after this

This episode was perfect but my jaw dropped when I saw the title for next week's episode 🙌🔥😭

Truly peak story telling. Rarely have I ever seen an anime that nailed the complexity of human emotion and mental health.

I don't cry a lot, but as an older brother to a sister, I did. And I have a gripe towards his "I couldn't do anything". Dude, YOU WERE THERE FOR HER WHEN SHE NEEDED MOST!

Bro, dam neared balled my eyes out when Norn cried into Rudius' chest. They got the feels just right

Mushoku Tensei is great because of that, is not just an isekai with an overpowered protagonist, it is actually a journey through a traumatized man with some bad habits, that gets a second chance in another world. He's not the strongest character in that world. He fights and overcomes his past a new traumas. He actually understand what some people in his previous life tried to do for him, and so much more. This episode made me cry, because as an older brother myself i get what he's going through.

Man what a tough episode emotionally. I'm really glad Rudy especially, and Norn, were able to work through some of their trauma and start taking the steps forward. As someone who hasn't gone through the extreme Rudy did in his past life, but a version of it.. it was hard for me to watch this. I really relate to how Rudy feels. I have shut myself off for most of my life. It wasn't until this past year or so i finally started taking the steps Rudy wasn't able to. It's been very hard, and im proud of myself for how far I have come. I've made a lot of progress. I haven't had anyone in my life like Rudy's brother, although im sure even if i did I would have been just like Rudy. All in all, I hope if anyone else reads this comment and is going through a similar journey, You can pull yourself out of it. I still struggle, and most days are really hard. I'm getting pretty emotional typing this, but you have to start moving forward and face reality. Do what you need to do for yourself and your future. I'll be 26 this month, and I wish i could go back in time a decade ago and convince myself to do what I have done this past year and share what I feel now. Don't be like Rudy. You can very easily tell how much regret he has over his past life. I am the same. But now that he's moved forward and healed somewhat, he's in a happier place. I'm reaching for that same path. The first step is always the hardest. You are worthy of happiness and love. Don't let yourself tell you otherwise

Earth Rudeus can't do what Norn did because their circumstances are different. Norn is burdened by the expectations set on her while Earth Rudeus was destroyed by Malice and Apathy of Japanese society.

Glad you liked this episode. As a LN reader, I knew this one was going to be a really important one. Honestly I don't like that people keep calling everything in this arc a Slice of Life Arc. I feel like that completely undermines what the entire school arc really is. The school arc focuses on building characters. Just cause there's no action going on doesn't make it not important. You probably notice there are some episodes entirely focused on said characters. Cliff/Elinalise hookup. Norn's trauma this episode. Nanahoshi's trauma the other week. It's a character building arc, not just for Rudeus but for everyone else also. We're here to witness how not just the MC grows and changes, but how the people around him grow and change with him. That being said. Unfortunately the Anime kind of butchered this Arc in a lot of small ways that added up. But it's hard to blame the studio in this regard. Cause there is just so much to cover within this arc. Which probably has a lot to do with the fact that the school arc, takes place in a matter of years. Not sure how long we're in at this point but I believe we're like 2 years into the school arc by now. A lot of time skips occur not just in between episodes, but mid-episodes also. Sometimes a week to a month can go by within a 23 minute time span and you will never know. As slow as things seem this arc, time moves on the fastest here out of any arc. Fortunately the Norn episode is not one of those episodes that got butchered.

This episode was very emotional. 10/10

The moment when Rudy cautiously sits besides Norn and she finally throws herself into his chest to cry her heart out... I was smiling of happiness. That's the moment when they finally became brother and sister, Norn acknowledging him as her family and a person that she can trust. Rudy is on her side and cares about her just like their father does.

This episode hits that much harder for me. I’d do anything for my own little sister. Also impressed with Norn’s mental maturity for seeing things from Rudeus’s perspective. Pure brilliance, and just shoves the haters further in the gutter.

This was the most important episode of the season so far. The fact that it spends so much time from his sister’s perspective and having it be introspective where we actually hear and see her thoughts because she can’t properly express them to Rudi is incredibly necessary and evocative. They are in that writer’s room COOKING.

I like how Rudy and Norn made up, they didn't need to say the obvious. Its just as simple as being there for Norn, Fantastic character development.

All I know is if the show is releasing episodes then the popularity is greater than the haters 😂

I am kinda biased with this arc now, for me my sister has always been a pillar of support through my teens & now in my adult years now. Seeing these kind of realistic sibling relationship's always really wholesome for me. I also like how the anime doesn't spoon feed every situation or emotion the characters are going through so anyone with working mind could figure it out.

I really thought there was no going beyond episode 15 with Nanahoshi's breakdown and then recovering a sense of hope after Rudy's posse gave her a new approach. Boy was I wrong!

I got silenced, I admit it. I got silenced so hard, it was like they put a ball gag in my mouth.

The episode really hit home. There are a lot of people in my life friends and family who suffer from depression. And i never know what to say, but i try to be there in any way I can. I'm a talker, I've been very lucky, and comparatively in a better position in life. I am an older brother, and i try to be there for my younger brother who went through his own trauma and kept it to himself. Often times my brother brushes me off because he's more of a loner. It's hard for him to open up, and i commend him every time ge tries to. We've grown up together but went different paths. I will never not be there for him, even if i can't say anything, I'll let him know that I'm not leaving his side.

People have been hating on this season? Sure its slow but ive been having a great time watching the slice of life aspects with him and silphy. My boy finally caught a break and this episode left me pretty emotional seeing how far my boy has come

This is the emotional and character development season for Rudy, really great story and character writing. But end of that season and the next is gonna be fire. This is were the action really starts in the LN.

Turning point 3 has me terrified but as the oldest in my family this touched my soul like nothing else. I related to this episode and just the plot overall so much it’s crazy

I very much liked the additions to the anime that weren’t in the light novels. When Rudy’s older self says get lost to his brother I got chills down my spine. I’m rereading the light novels because of how good the anime is

The one thing I found really interesting is that on hearing "Greyrat" everyone connects her to Rudeus... and not Luke, who is also one of the most well-known students at the school due to his connection with Ariel.

Haters have no material to work with for the last 5 weeks. At least for the current episode threads/post that is. Think Konosuba straight up has Kazama do far more questionable things in one episodes then Rudy does in seasons.

They really need to age up Rudeus in the anime so scenes like this hits even harder in the future, I feel like it is very important to show that Rudues has grown not only mentally but also Physically. it has been a long time since any of his family has seen Rudeus and considering we have been meeting them again. Also, a clip on the opening when Rudues and Paul was facing together made me realize that he and Sylphiette looks so similar in height

I wish I'd approached this in the same manner Rudeus did for his sister. I did just the same methods as his brother tried, to help the MC in his previous life. This shit hits deep.

i came back to just watch this episode, it still brought tears in my eyes as how the novel did. Can't wait for that Turning point. edit: i still haven't watch the other episode yet mind you. That's how powerful and understanding the way they craft this episode.

I'm not even 30 seconds in. I can tell the haters did not watch the full season 1 because the very last episode (of season 1) displayed massive character development that can not be understated. I'm genuinely curious to know what they'd consider "development" if that wasn't it.

This episode hit my son and I both right in the feels, and it was throwing haymakers.

This is a bit off topic and let’s keep it spoiler free for anime onlys, but let’s say we continue the trend of 6 books per season. That means we would be left with volumes 25 and 26. Wouldn’t that make for a great movie? I personally think that could be a fantastic way to end the series. 4 seasons and a final movie

I try not to get mad at these haters, but man, they sure do know how to push my buttons. Like what do you mean Rudy hasn’t changed at all? This man is practically an entirely different person and to just ignore that is insane to me.

I was waiting for that episode to absolutely hit me in the feels. it was not there in in the previous season. here it is though, and damn I could not help reflect on my own relationship with my brother. as the older brother I related very much with the episode.

Dafuq iirc in LN the actual turning point 3 was much later than where the story in anime currently is, I actually expeced that that this season will end with turning point 3... Really confused how they get to TP3 in 1 episode (minor spoiler, if I'm correct of the event im thinking about it happens on a completely different continent) o.O Or am i misremembering things?

An interesting point i noticed on the episode, and i think novel doesnt convey, is that when Rudy says that Norn did it on her own, he is still devaluating himself, he is still on that mindset of the past to some extent, as it was because he was there for her, that Norn managed to start getting out, she came to her own realization and all, but he was there calmly waiting for her, no one ever gets out of depression alone, and Rudy was the support that helped her, jut like how Roxy was in this life for Rudy, or how his brother tried to in his past life, this type of episodes are the real core of MT, not the action, but the emotional instrospection at mundane events

This episode almost had me in tears man! Great episode!

What I really like about the scene with Ruijerd is that he is like the ultimate mediator, because he said the same thing to Rudeus about Eris. He assured that the other one is surely not deviant or not a bad apple and that you should face them to hear them out. A lot - and I MEAN a lot of series have conflicts that could be resolved by such behavior but often they don't and drama drags on and on. Ruijerds interference puts a sock on this and demands from both parties to face each other with the intention of mending what is broken. This is a lesson, that our discussion culture actually needs. Especially if we take a look at social media discourse that is making the rounds.

One the thing i love about the series was Rudeus as person was still growing till the end of the story he did not become a perfect human in his second life. Despite being a powerful mage he was still a normal person who made mistakes , learned from them and grew a little every day

I teared up at the end.

I just noticed that episode 17 of first season was where rudeus meets his dad and norn .

every episode keeps getting better and better, mmm mmm mmm, my favorite episode so far of S2 P2.

You get a truly deep episode and then you get it with that “Turning Point 3”. Sends shivers down my spinal fluid !

That's why this one is the best Isekai. They never forget the old life of MC. How many ones they erase or ignores the history to be just a new start after truck kun!

Mushoku tensei is easily my personal top 3 anime.

I think it makes sense now why they kind of rushed through a lot of content last week. They wanted to have that extra runtime to focus on this moment and it paid off big time, this honestly might be the best episode of the entire show so far.

I'm right now just excited and somewhat fearful of the next episode cuz nothing good comes out of an episode named turning point

I really felt bad for Rudeus brother what he must've felt and how he tried to help his younger brother out i hope they see each other again in some way or another

We needed this episode. The emotions were high in this episode of Jobless Reincarnation.

Working on reading LN 22 right now, and while the story has it's ups and downs, it's still one of the best in the isekai genre.

I dont why, but the fact that the interaction between Norn and Rudeus when they are in her Room and Rudeus talks to her, a few tears came up. idk why, but somehow that hit harder than expected

Who says rudy has no character development? Within the first few episodes he had one, the scene with roxy taking him outside is still referenced to this very day in the show and he’s forever greatful to her cause of it

So fans just love 1 thing fights....if the character isnt strong as Goku they consider the story trash..... Thy only love reicarnated as the strongest in the world or universe without challenges .....like emotional, family , society problems that a hero must face....they want a hero that just reincarnate without overcoming their past challenges....in a new world

I had a friend of mine that animated in this episode and he mentioned that the whole episode was reaaaally underfunded which is interesting since it does look great!

This is the best episode so far at least for me as well! So many feelings, character development and like you say here, I consider Mushoku Tensei best isekai because of these types of chapters.

I love how Rudy and Norn are not immediately best friends at the end. All that happened is that those issues that kept them apart have been removed, and now they have room to develop their relationship.

When season 1 aired, one of the biggest things that haters kept repeating was that the story didn't have to be an isekai. The MC didn't need to be a hikkikomori and a pervert, but this episode, along with many other instances, proves that this being an isekai and the MC being a hikkikomori is a vital part of the story.

Very emotional episode, even tho I have read the novels, still hit pretty hard. I love how they animated it and I think this is peak anime and not just peak isekai. But what comes next will hit even harder. Hint: The name of the next episode.

This is the first episode in quite a bit that reminded me why I love Mushoku Tensei so much. Not to say I'm not enjoying the slice of life, because I'm. But the last time I remember feeling that emotional impact over Mushoku Tensei is S2 Ep 3 (where Rudeus was with Soldat and tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself). This episode was absolutely incredible and it really got me emotional. Also Norn is the GOAT, she is such a well written character.

This episode was great and it shows or makes really obvious that Norn is really intelligent. Great characters. I also loved the killer face on Rudeus

It may be surprising but the only time (before watching this) ive cried watching anime is when i was watching attack on titans final movie And i cried the second time watching this episode. This new "part 2" is entertaining as fuck and this episode enhanced this feeling to the maximum

This was peak isekai

I both loved and hated this episode... it felt too long and too short at the same time. I loved that they showed Norn having stomach pains and not being able to leave her bed because the pain would get worse. This is a lot like Rudy when he didn't want to leave home and Roxy saved him by putting him on the horse. I love seeing how that was similar. But at the same time Rudy's face didn't change much. He looked more devastated in the last episode when Nanahoshi was feeling so down. Especially when Zanoba calls out Rudy looking like he has gone through hell. This episode dragged a bit in Rudy feeling down about it being his fault that Norn is in that state. But at the same time i feel it didn't show his expression very well to show the audience that he realized it was his fault. That and when the transition from Paul to Rudy could have been so much better. At this point Rudy is supposed to look like a main. He is still young sure but he looks like a man before he marries Sylphie. So when Norn looks at Rudy he is supposed to look like Paul before he started to look so old and pathetic. Rudy is supposed to represent what Paul was before everything went down. He was a happy man with everything to look forward to. And Rudy was doing the same thing. I feel Rudy's face could have looked more adult and more sad. I did also love how everyone is so willing to help Rudy at a moments notice. But it still felt kind of a waste of time because we should have seen a bit more of Rudy and Norns prospective. Norn is just a normal girl. She doesn't have many memories until she was older. She isn't like Aisha or Rudy where they remember more of their youth. That's why Norn didn't like Slypy at first because she doesn't remember the girl that was at their house everyday. Most young kids are like Norn and their first memories are at the age of three to five. It is when many have a consciousness. So she feels hurt when Rudy punches Paul. She only trust Paul and Ruijerd at this point in time. So when she hears them both say to give Rudy a chance she chooses to change her mindset. Something many adults can't do. That's why she was able to get out of it faster then Rudy in his old life. He shut himself down and for too long there was no way out of it. Sometimes hearing words isn't enough to people. It isn't enough for friend to say how are you doing but not really listen to any or your griefs. The episode was great but i only think it is because of what i know from the light novel. Seeing it from an outside point of view it could have been better. Especially to people that are anime only.
