Good point, but even then they are so many indie games that are too story driving or have a learning curve. I miss the days of pop in game play for an hour and go about my day.

Not true, a lot of people don't mind losing if they feel the game is balanced or at least they are having fun in the process. Look at what has happened to fighting games recently by adding simplified control schemes non experienced players can keep up with others while learning pacing, and movement most of the time thw experienced players still win but it's not just a dog pile on the noob. I understand the concept of "get good" but why trample the new guy when you could give them a chance in the beginning. And again think of the offline people, kids, and parents or siblings
