Hatteras Island - Ocracoke Island, NC (Ferry Ride) 

Wow beautiful. It was just like a dream for me last summer. I was by myself to see such a wonder.

It is always a treat to visit Ocracoke.

I have gone with my parents to Ocracoke just about once a year up until 2 years ago! Amazingly calm and quiet, but beautiful!

Hatteras Island before 1846 was connected at both ends until a Hurricane in 1846 opened up both channels on the North and South end...The same storm did both, must have been a mighty storm!!!

Rode the ferry to Ocracoke back in 1974. Tossed bread to the seagulls flying overhead while underway. It was great! Then we hit Ocracoke and it was like an oven and the sand flies were having a field day.

Both this inlet and the one at the northern end of Hatteras Island were formed by the same Hurricane in 1846.

Im way overdue to go back to hatteras . I aint been there in almost 5 years and im as ready as can be to go back up there soon .

i been on them boats many times relaxing.take about a hour on this ferry maybe 30 minuts i was on it last year.your riding thru the grave yard of the atlantic.

Those flies are ridiculous, haven't really had a problem with them yet though.. Good times!
