Did you know this engine is made by the same company that builds the power units for the American M1 Abrams tanks? The company is HATZ, and they design and build their engines in Germany. Hatz has been around for over 140 years! In this particular engine they designed for generators. It's smaller than traditional engines in this power range, consumes less fuel, and is 200 pounds lighter than its nearest competitor. Not only that, it's also 10 dB quieter than others.
These are some of the reasons we use this Hatz engine on our 40 kW generators. It is also because this diesel engine meets some of the toughest emission regulations. It runs super clean, and it parlty to do with this DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) for exhaust after treatment. This is all you need for a muffler, and it's quieter and cleaner than others.
Because it's so clean running, there are no restrictions on its use. You can run it full-time if needed. Even cooling is far superior on this engine. It uses a large radiator to keep it cool under even extreme operating conditions with NO derating.
