HATZEGOPTERYX Update & New Features | ARK: Ascended 

I want to commend all the modders who are prepared to give their mods a second pass with new models and animations when they feel they're not up to scratch (remodelling especially is not an easy feat when the creature has been rigged, textured and set up in the devkit). Modding is tough and some things can only be learnt by seeing the whole process through and then trying again. Even after only finishing my second mod, there are already things I would do differently about my first. Well done Xyphias

So, positives first: the first version looked good and felt creative, unique, and lively while the zookeeper in me loved seeing the elements taken from birds I have actually worked with. Here, all of those qualities have remained but been further improved upon. I hav worked with numerous large storks and other predatory wading birds as well as giraffes, and the blend of movements here is a remarkably smooth hybridization. The feathers (fur is a mammal thing, Becca, come one!) across the body had an especially nice touch with the thicker vulture-like ruff around the neck and bald head, really selling us on the aggressive scavenger lifestyle. The sound and idle effects are particularly pleasing. I think the abilities, while not working at 100%, are interesting and unique. Xyphias started with a good creature, acknowledged some weak points, and made it better through hard work and careful scrutiny of criticism -THIS IS THE PEAK OF HUMANITY. Not necessarily the mod itself, but the attitude behind the redesign. I don’t know anything about this person except from what they have shown of their attitude here, but I am happy to share the same world with them based on what I do know. The negative: the only reason I didn’t get the previous version was that it was broken as all hell and I like a balanced server. Super strong creatures definitely have a following in this community, but not with me. So I’m going to need to do some research to see how it’s stats scale. Not a criticism of the work at large, but a subjective preference. Hats off to Xyphias for the mod, to Xyphias and Tweed for their commitment to a healthy community, and to you for bringing us together and highlighting the best of our community, Becca🖤

The saddle concept is REALLY COOL. I love how it has the option to show the materials you used to craft the scorched variant armor. I also think that while a tad awkward flying, the feathers are a nice change to the typical leather wings.

I'm seeing alot of negativity in these comments and I'm here to say I absolutely LOVE the glow up the Hatz got! I enjoyed the Hatz when it was first introduced despite the growing pains. I know alot of people disapprove of some the changes or think it's unrealistic but it looks great now while being unique

I think the flying looks slightly better, but the wings look weird and it’s a lot on the eyes, however most importantly I think the flying animation still needs a lot of work, if nothing else just copy the quetzal one cause this looks super weird. I know I’m not being super positive so I also just wanna say that for your first ever real creature mod this ain’t bad man, and I am looking forward to see you improve over time.

I liked the first one, it looked really goofy with that long neck 😅 I like this one too and I'm glad that the players concerns were addressed. Great job 😊

Just tried out the mod for myself and its actually really good! I was a little worried I wouldn't like it but this creature is super fun and I can't wait to see what the mod creator cooks up next!

Another great video! I agree with @wildwaghorn Never be afraid to try to make something, or go back and make something better. Even the best modders out there have gone back and reworked their mods as they learn new things or new technologies come out. Great job Xiphias.

Look at this guy compared to the quetz! Crazy how talented the mod authors that make mostly free content are! I hope WC sees how amazing these creatures are and at least revamps some of the vanilla creatures models.

i had a good idea for a tame for extinction during creature vote and soon as i figure out how to mod well or work with someone for it. i'll be happy. this is a cool creature i like it.

The redesign is very interesting, and it's really cool that they're leaning more in a vulture direction, visually. However, the feathery wings don't look good. The feathering is chunky and sparse, and even if it was an even coat, no pterosaur would ever have feathery wings like that. It's definitely an interesting idea, but I think it could have been done so much better.

I'm really loving the model and animation when it's grounded, it looks great! The idle animation is amazing and would be perfected with a couple more variations. It's just the wings during flying, and the way it flies as a wild creature (slowly just hovering without ever flapping its wings) and the jittering that kills it for me. Hopefully these things will improve so we can add this to our cluster ☺

Hatz's being hyper aggro? Lines up pretty well with Path of titans! These big not-birds are the bane of my existance. Looks pretty though

what an impressive improvement over the old model. The only thing I don't like are the feathery wings. it's just too much. but I really loved your paranoid attack while taming :)

I honestly really like the new vulture looking design, it's got 100% wanting to reinstall the mod and use it again.

the improvement is nuts! imo design wise it looks so much better with the new patterns, and the light plumage gives it a very unique look. the abillities seem cool too with their specialization in the hunger status. also, I adore the little skins of friendship thing xyphias has done with the other Hatz modder, very sweet

So when i was running around my base i didnt realize this creature got updated so when i seen it i got scared as hell thinking something was invading me goes to show how different it looks and i love it Also you forgot to mention the different size creatures it grabs it has a different animation for example small creautures will show its mouth slightly open and if attacking while holding it itll just swallow it whole and give you a buff (Vomit Attack pretty much throws up the small creature) but larger creatures makes its mouth is wider and will just chew them till dead Only con i have about them is a flying backwards animation is needed you cant glide backwards it looks weird Other than that great mod!

It reminds me of Beaky Buzzard from Looney Tunes kinda when it flies

The only thing I have a hard time accepting is the feathery wings. I like the direction the mod developer took to make the Hazt look more like a SE variant (like the Acro having feathers on its back and the desert colors) but the feathery wings where a bit too much 😅 But other than that… everything looks great! love both variants and I love that they kept the beak clapping animation when you level up the Hazt!

It's not for me in it's current state, but for a first time big creature mod it's really good, and the jaw clacking sound is so nice, it's almost an asmr for me lol.

Ah yes now we need to wait another 2 weeks before one of these masterpieces comes out again.

It looks a lot better than the previous version, I like it a lot, but I think it could use some kind of stronger ability, after all it is the largest prehistoric flying creature in the world! I don't think it should be on par with a Giga or a Carcha, that would be a big problem... but it should have an ability with a lot of cooldown that makes it dangerous, something like DEVOURING small creatures in one go, with a cooldown of 30 minutes or something like that... NICE WORK!! 💪

It looks good, but the wing movement when gliding looks a tad odd, even though it's a BIG BOI I still feel like the skin(?) on the wings should be slightly more taut and wave around less 'chaotic'ally, as you described it

The vomit projectile attack works in singleplayer, server fix incoming - and the server movement stutter was supposed to already be fixed, so it's also getting addressed! The alpha tracking DOES work and it IS compatible with ARKOLOGY variants. Turns out, vanilla Alpha Raptors are coded weirdly

Yes everything about it is amazing the run,the model but the stationary flying backward when tame and the wings not flapping while the dino is wild need to be work i think for the dino to look more natural, but still very good job on the dino,he's magnifique 🔥😲👏you can feel the hard work,sweat and hours put behind it 😎👍

I can’t speak for others, but if I want an air terminator I would install dragon kingdom. I will only install a Hatze mod if it’s realistic and different, I.e. giraffe stance.

I dont like this Gliding that it does when He was wild. And this idk... Glitching and bugging? If that gets fixed, i would download it for Sure, creature skills, taming Methode with that expansive food, and the saddle Details are pretty cool!

the old version was much better. This new one is a bit strange, the owner of the mod almost makes a Rodan 😂 these animations of this new model are so strange, these wings with hair are a bit strange.

I thought this mod was cool when it came out but that flying is the most janky mess ever lol. While it looks cool overall movement is very poor this is absolutely not ready

Honestly preferred the old design, also the flying animations got worse imo, still not downloading it.
