The point of having the two lines of the docking cord criss cross is to avoid having the jarring 'pop' when releasing the mule hitch of a very heavy load. That is also the point of having a doubled up docking cord. Why do you bother with a doubled up cord for an MMO - wouldn't a single cord be just as good in your case?
I've found that instead of tying a double bowline (for some reason I always forget how to tie it), you can tie a normal figure 8 (retrace of course) and then use an extra non locker to clip directly into the knot so that when you're untying it, you can remove the carabiner and it comes off way easier.
So, let me see if I have this right. 7:40, "I don't see any need to back up my MMO . . . " - Your haul bag(s) is hanging off of a six or seven mm cord that’s tied with a quick release knot. - This is not backed up to anything. - There’s also 60 or 70 meters of static haul line. One end is tied to the bag, and the other end is tied to some point on the anchor. The MMO / quick release knot on your docking cord gets bumped, jostled, messed with, whatever, and accidentally releases. The haul bag free falls for up to 200 feet. This falling bag weight hits your static haul rope, putting a ridiculously high force onto your anchor. If you're still alive, you have quite the story to tell. Hope you have some clean underpants. In risk management terms this is what's called low probability high consequence. All of this could be mitigated by taking a few seconds and tying a backup knot in the haul line and clipping it off. You're free not to do this if you prefer. But as an instructor, it's a really good idea to explain what the potential consequences might be if you don’t.
Very nice video. One comment / suggestion: you say around 7:45 that you don't bother adding any kind of backup onto your haul bag after the docking cord is attached. This is something you may be comfortable with, and that's cool, but standard practice is to back up the docking cord not with a sling, but with the actual haul rope. Think of it this way, would you be comfortable hanging off of an anchor with only 7 mm cord tied to your harness? No, probably not, and your haul bag feels the same way. =^) Related, around 815 you say in rock rescue scenarios you leave full body weight on the MMO without a back up. Well, maybe in your rock rescue classes, but never anything I have taken or studied. Treat the MMO on small diameter cord as something that always gets backed up by the actual rope.
I agree with backing up the haul bag but cord is still just as strong as a climbing rope or slings or other soft goods. If I was tied into a cord and and MMO’ed to the anchor I’d feel very safe. However in the rock rescue I’ve done if I’m using an MMO on the cord it’s frictionhitched in order to do a load transfer and you’re never supposed to fully rely on a single friction hitch so maybe that’s where you’re getting confused?
