@@thomaswery3087 Tom. With your incredible collection, I wouldn’t worry about it. I am enjoying the 8 tracks but mostly nostalgia. They don’t sound great. Now the laserdiscs I liove watching. I get them for next to nothing and have discovered fantastic movies I never would have seen. Especially the Criterion laserdiscs. Cheapest film school there is.

Hi Alan, always enjoy your vids! Gotta say your bang on with your assessment of The Commitments & Dead Calm! I saw the Commitments in the theatre when it came out and aside with a little dialog trouble because of the Irish accents, it was an incredibly fun experience, watched it at least a dozen times. Dead Calm was a thrill to see as well, Billy Zane was outstanding, and of course we all know how good Sam & Nicole are.

@@onemansmusicisanothermansnoise Pioneer D0606 and Pioneer D501. I have two working players I watch regularly. I also have a non working player (don't know why I keep it - but so impossible to find working players - and expensive to fix (I had these fixed).
Thanks Alan, I was considering looking for a used player but unless I stumble on an amazing find, I guess I'll stick to blurays. How would you compare the two?
@@onemansmusicisanothermansnoise The visual of laserdiscs are somewhere between VHS and DVD. And the newest TV's often can't be connected to them - I had to get a converter for my TV's and my TV's are relatively old. I have surround sound, so the laserdisc sound is fantastic. Laserdisc is weird - the video is analog and the sound is digital. But I was an early adopter of laserdisc when they first came out, so I'm re-living what I loved. Also I find the discs all over long island for really cheap so it's like me going to film school. Criterion laserdisc I pick up instantly to discover amazing films, some I've never heard of. I buy sometimes bulk laserdiscs for nothing so I watch films I never would've discovered by streaming, where I would never find these. For me it's great. Don't buy a player and have it shipped to you - it will never survive the shipping. they're old and delicate machines and not cheap to fix. But if you're lucky to find a working player at an estate sale or something could be a fabulous hobby. I love it. But don't expect the quality of dvd or blu-ray - that's not what these are about. And personally many old movies look great with the film look vs the incredibly sharp digital films we see now.
Quite amazing they got the rights to a real Beatles song on A Bronx Tale, Come Together at the biker scene. Cool Joe Pesci cameo too. Talking Mickey Rourke, Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man with Don Johnson is a cool action flick. Two Bryan Brown films in that stack. John Lithgow was great as the main villain in Cliffhanger with Stallone. Helen Mirren was a hottie back on the day, she still looks great for her age.

Living in New Orleans, I am a big fan of Beausoleil. They are a classic Louisiana Cajun band with a contemporary updated sound on some of their more recent releases.
The first laserdisc i ever watched was one from the heart. Laserdiscs like dat never caught on with the general public. You have deep pockets to adffird this. A good deal of mine came from goodwill estate sales. Some true suprises and cds that command six figures on ebay. Have you seen micky rourkes ftw. Loved harley davidson and marlboro man . Don johnson isnabseriously underratedbactor. Rourke at this point was circling the drain. Like me you have difficulty nailing ten favorite movies. Betcha
@@SpenceCurry derp pockets. They give laserdiscs away here. I bought 400 for like 50 bucks total. Lol. Yea picking 10 favorite movies would be tough. Different genres too so hard to combine.
cant agree with you more about The Commitments. Saw it in 1991 or 1992 and instantly bought the soundtracks. Havent seen Dead Calm since it was released but remember liking it. Some cool stuff. I think I liked that remake of DOA more than you. Saw that in theaters and revisited it few years ago. When ya gonna start reviewing movies again? I went recently to see Cuckoo, Strange Darling, the new Alien movie and wanna hear the Rosenberg review of these.
You should check out the original DOA. It's probably better than the remake. Curious if you know The Zutons? Just got the new one in the deluxe 2cd edition. I find them very creative.

It’s like six bucks for senior at local theater. I’m keeping a list. Seen 28 so far. Some so excited for and very disappointed like long legs. Oddity. Last was Alien and Blink twice. Hated both. Best so far was probably Lste Night With devil, Abigail, Bikeriders. Iron Claw. What s as bout your faves so far.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow i also hated Longlegs. I thought Alien was OK. Best Alien movie since Aliens. It’s nowhere near as good as 1 & 2 but entertaining in a “greatest hits” kinda way. We talked about Late Night w Devil before. I didn’t dig it at all. Abigail was fun. Strange Darling i saw other day was good. You might not like it but def go in knowing nothing. Furiosa would be good if they cut out about 45 minutes. I usually go on Tuesdays to AMC for $6 day.
no - long obsolete technology. very hard / nearly impossible to find a working player in good shape but the discs are plentiful. From the 80's and 90's technology.
OMG....OMG..... We've been over this many times. No white socks after Labor Day!!🤣😂 See the original DOA. Better than the remake. Meg Ryan looked so much better without the super enhanced big lips. I'm not the biggest Tom Cruise fan. I did love him in The Fourth of July and especially in Magnolia. I just saw The Bike Riders. I enjoyed it. I usually like anything with Tom Hardy in it.
