I purchased this Haul-Master motorcycle hitch carrier from Harbor Freight. I was able to use a 20% off coupon that I was able to find in the coupon section on their website. Overall I'm very pleased with the quality of the carrier, especially for the money. I have around 1,000 miles on this carrier hauling a 2021 KTM 500 EXC-F Dual Sport.

Thank you for the excellent informative video. I am installing this carrier and the instructions are typical poorly illustrated and written. You video made installation clear.

Not showing the actual ramp in use negates a lot of the leverage of this review. If it was a decent struggle and required significant effort, you should show that.

Add skate board grip tape for better grip on aluminum, a friend said.

You cranked that thing down so tight, you are bowing the entire tray down ward on both ends. Was ready to buy this to try since it's so cheap, but this video has changed my mind

It’s now 2023 , April, new cost is $170 plus tax, since 3 years ago they cost $110 . There are many fairly easy ways to modify the Harbor Freight ( Haul Master) . If I could pre-sell one , I would share my modified rack and some neat tricks I did for my Aventon Adventure. I hav an idea for trying to make it for two E-bikes . There’s no welding but you need a good rivet gun and 1/4” rivets, I used my saber saw and my leaded plastic hammer , four very good dril bits 3/16” & 5/16” most important. Use your head while drilling, know how the drilling drifts because you have to drill at an angle. Make precise measurements and note that each spacer it different . Bought extra 5/16” x 2 3/4 “. There is a certain order to move and put back together but I’ve ran out of time, maybe later, say October 23 .

Good review- one note: I noticed your hitch stabilizers aren't mounted properly. The straight pieces cover the car's hitch - the angled ends rotate onto the bike hitch tubes - prevents some lateral movement.

Thank you, I’ll have to adjust them. I’ve moved them round a few times trying to get the least amount of movement.

you can get a dual hitch extender from HF to raise the height of the hitch by 3-4 inches

That's compressed way to much. Get a fork brace and just have it evenly tightened left to right and front to back.
@alwayshustle5591
@alwayshustle5591 2 года назад
You have that bike cinched down… you compressed the front forks WAY to much. Get some soft loop cambuckle motorcycle tie downs that are motorcycle specific. Also get a forkguard/suspension brace. Don’t compress so much and get the right tools to secure the bike.

You can see how much it’s deforming the carrier due being compressed so much. High chance the alloy will fatigue and eventually crack with that amount of force.

Flip both those forward tabs up, and bend them up. Looked like you had already done that to the left one.

It’s why he has so much slop with the carrier. I purchased a standard hitch stabilizer and have virtually zero movement.

Oh shoot, it’s not bad! I usually just start the bike and give it a little gas and pop it up on the carrier while walking alongside the bike. Make sure you have your straps ready to go before you put the bike up on the carrier.

@@PNW.Voyager so it's worth it?? I have a small 50cc body with a 110 motor. Looks like it will do the job. Does highway winds or speed effect it? Thanks for responding. Thanks for making the video as well.

Get you a thicker piece of velcro and use it to keep the ramp from popping off???? Does this carrier come with the stabilizer things? I bought one off FB and didn't get them from the guy. Thanks!
@PNW.Voyager
@PNW.Voyager 2 года назад
Hello, The Velcro is a great idea! It’s very wet and muddy here so not sure how long it would last. This carrier did come with stabilizer mounts, but they are not great. We have played around the the stabilizer things, in this video they are not on the correct way. Regardless there is still a little sway.

I have toyota rav4 and I am hesitant to have this kind of set up since my car just have 200lb tounge weight capacity. How is your outback doing now? No any issues?
@PNW.Voyager
@PNW.Voyager Год назад
Are there any aftermarket hitch setups that can handle more? My outback was great with the hitch carrier, I did have to replace the stock rear springs to a stiffer setup though. I sold the Outback last year and have been in an old Grand Cherokee. The Outback was an awesome car, I prefer having more capability though.

Rav can handle it.....people do it. Stay away from internet forums, lots of cry babies that Act like the world will end Just because you go over the tongue weight by 1 ounce, Lol.....these people Don't live in the Real world, where manufacturers Over Build things, knowing people will exceed whatever they Write anyways, Lol......just get a Class 3 hitch.

Blowing out your fork seals from strapping your bike down is an old wives tale. Oil moves from one side of the valve to the other. It does not build pressure
