Appreciate the information bud. Beings back a lot of memories of my childhood when I would go with my dad to ride in his truck. He hauled heavy equipment also
Thanks. The pto on this truck engages by a cable some trucks have a toggle by air. Also the pump that raises the body runs off the transmission, so it raises faster depending on what gear you’re in. This is sometimes tricky because you want the body to raise fast but have the truck moving slow
So this truck has an air shift on the main stick for hi, lo and reverse. The column that has two short sticks is for the body controls. The stick on the passenger side is for the pto that’s engaged by a cable. The stick on the driver side engages the pump to raise and lower the body
@@AppalachianRust ok , thanks , i sorta figured it out after i re-watched sections of your video , but thanks for clarifying it , really like your channel !!!
@@AppalachianRust It's the lever on the right mounted underneath the wheel they all have one . When I was a kid my dad told me not to touch it.He drove macks also
@@ThomasSmith-fz6wq ok so in the shot in the beginning of the video that lever is a brake but it’s not a parking brake. It’s for a trailer. If you pull it while hooked to a trailer it will lock the brakes on the trailer. But it’s written on it Not For Parking. I’ve never used it other than on the road tractor when trying to free up the brakes occasionally.
Guess so. I just hate giving it that much fuel. It starts good in warm weather. When it’s cold like it was on this morning it doesn’t like to wake up. Thanks for the comment
@@AppalachianRust yeah that's the good thing about old Mack's, they're usually good starters. Being a Maxidyne yours would of had a decal on the dash stating to give it full fuel while starting. Greetings from Tasmania. We had a lot of old school trucks way back when. Just bought a 6 speed r600 myself. What a rough ryder while empty!
I grew up using old international dresser dozens and dumptruckd 3964 excavator 5 of them uncl had 60 pieces equipment all leaked did monster100 acre subdivision in n raleigh I did 28 hole Preston wood golf course in cary leaking assembly td 8 and 15 dozer with foppy blade
There is a golf course here close that my Dad and Uncle (KL Mays and Sons) built back in the early 2000s. They did all the large earth moving for the fair ways, lakes and roads. The name is popular grove
We are in central VA. A lot of our equipment has came from other states all used for the most part, and most before I began to work. The two Allis Chalmers HD11 and HD6 were bought new by my Grandfather. This truck originally came from Tennessee I believe. Couple scrapers from NC and one from Tennessee.
Does that quarry make you empty weigh every time cause the quarrys I ran out of once they had your empty weight you only had to scale out cause they had your empty weight already 🤷♂️
There are 3 quarry companies close by they all do it a little differently. One will get your empty for the week one will for the day and Boxely (the big company) used to record your empty for the day but changed to EVER load
