HAUNTED MANSION at Knoebels (2023) 50th Anniversary - They Brought it Back! 

Happy 50th bday to Knoebels Haunted Mansion! What's your favorite new change or addition that was made?

Dude ever since I was little that haunted house traumatized me…not sure why, but I go in there to this day with 1 eye open. I know it’s all fun and games, but the hair on my neck still stands up…

As a former Disney Cast member I can honestly say that I am impressed with the quality of a low tech dark ride. The hidden vulture thing is great

I'm thrilled that the floating skulls are back, I a!ways loved the illusion, best part of the ride!

First time I ever went on the Haunted Mansion was in 2009 and I distinctly remember the floating skull room playing the theme from Halloween 2. Really glad they brought it back this year!

HOLY MOLY! Beyond ecstatic that they brought the glowing skull hall with the Halloween II music back. Almost teared up 🥲 🎃💀🎃

This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE haunted dark ride! I ride it EVERY year! I had no idea it was the 50 year anniversary this year!! Now I'm REALLY pumped to go this year! Great video!! Thank you!!!

I rode this when I was eight. I'm Fifty-one now and I still have vivid memories of this ride. I'm planning to go back this summer with my kid!

I'm making my yearly voyage to Knoebels next week. I live an hour away in wilkes-barre. for locals, knoebels is pilgrimmage and rite of passage for pennsylvanians. I always get scared in the mansion. "WELCOME!!!!" the horn always terrifies me!

Happy 50th Birthday to Knoebels Haunted Mansion! 🎉 That haunted house ride is one of the best I have ever seen, and they sure did a great job making some fantastic updates to it! It may not be new, but I think the dragon or dinosaur that pops through the clock is really cool. The floating skulls are also really neat, the whole ride is awesome! They did a nice refresh inside in certain areas. I rode it several times, first in 1992, then on two separate trips with a church group in the 2000's, then another visit with my younger brother, my mom who just passed last June 14 in the hospital because her breathing was bad, and her man friend who loved with us since early 1994, we lost our father March 8, 1986. I remember the old skull room on the first floor before you climbed up the hill to the attic, now it's an upside down room, and they brought back new skulls on the second floor with that spooky music again. I live near Dorney Park and I miss a ride like this, they have nothing haunted in the summer anymore, but they have haunt mazes in the fall which change themes from time to time, they add new ones and retire old ones. Dorney Park had a pretzel dark ride with cars similar to Knoebel's called Bucket O' Blood, it was rethemed by Bill Tracy in 1962 to Pirate's Cove, then to Bucket O' Blood still with the pirate theme for 1975 by Bill Tracy's company after he passed, he passed Aug 1974. Bucket O' Blood burned Sept. 28, 1983. The company was originally Outdoor Dimensional Displays and located in North Bergen, NJ then moved to Cape May Court House in 1967 and renamed Amusement Display Associates. For 1975 it was This Is, Inc. then in the late 70's Jim Melonic took over and renamed it Fantasies and Dreams, and later on it became JMM Studios and he and his son did work on the Black Diamond at Knoebel's which uses the old track from the former Golden Nugget Mine Ride on the former Hunt's Pier in Wildwood, NJ which was Dinosaur Beach 1996-1998. Morey's Piers bought the pier in 1999-2000 and the Nugget sat closed from 1999-Feb 2009, they had a farewell ceremony in the first floor of the ride end of January 2009 the first floor was hollowed out. It was also closed in 1992 and 1995.

Very cool video! I’ve always been a dark ride fan ever since I was a little kid. Nice to see they totally revamped this one and put in a lot of new stuff. Your enthusiasm for the subject matter comes through very clearly in the video. Great job!

Jay, That was a great update, no long empty spots and the transitions between areas were great. The music was really fitting. AS good as it was in a video, it must have been terrific riding it! Thanks for the update, say hello to what was his name, Vinnie the vulture for me. Rik I've got to tell you this story. I explored the Jersey Pine barrens for many years as a lover of history and the plants and animals. One day I drove down an open sandy area road. I had on gloves, a big straw hat and heavy clothes, because I wondered, if I laid down along the road and didn't move, would Vinnie or his relatives visit.. After about an hour, sure enough ,the Vultures landed and started hopping toward me. I wanted to see how close they would come, but just as they got a few feet away, a truck came past and they flew off. After that I got the nickname "Buzzardman"

I had honestly never head of this park before, but I really liked this video. 😄 I’ve loved these haunted house rides ever since I went on the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, and while that one is my favorite, I still love seeing other other haunted house rides because they’re just a fun and cool idea. :) And every amusement park does them differently. Haunted house rides are just one those ride themes that will never stop being fun, you know? 😄

I should have attended this. I don't know why I didn't. Great footage, thanks for sharing! You can really tell that the primary care taker has changed. The previous caretaker was much more focused on preserving history and not changing anything. The new caretaker is much more open to change but keeping the same spirit. (or spirits as it were)

The first and last time I was ever on this ride was back in the 90s when I lived there. This brought back wonderful memories

I like this version of the skull room better than the original. Looks like it uses blacklight with UV reactive skulls. The first one used ( as I'm sure you all already know ) glow in the dark skulls that were recharged with bright lights between cars. I worked at the mansion back when the original room was there. When it was busy and the cars were going through close together, the lights couldn't stay on long enough to give the skulls a good charge and they would eventually get dim and hard to see in the dark and then the effect was lost. This way with the blacklight, the skulls will show up well every time. I'll repeat what I said before about being glad the optical area was removed as it always seemed somewhat boring to me. This new skull room in that area is just perfect. Edit: Have to make a correction. It was when it was slow when the skulls would become too dim to see well in the dark, not when it was busy. There were two floor switches right before the skull room, one to turn the bright lights on and one to turn them off. When it was slow, the skulls would be left in the dark for too long and the short recharge they got when a car did go through wasn't enough to brighten them up very much. When it was busy and the lights came on more often, the brightness of the skulls was much better. Sorry for posting the wrong information but this was over thirty years ago when I worked there.

I'm very in board with the old school haunted dark ride but that final jump scare could probably do with some modernization. It seems a bit behind the times in a bad way.

When I was at knoebels since last month, me and my Family went also Preston joined in to come with me to knoebels but I was so very happy that he went to the rides with me and also the haunted house was a bit of creepy like freak and also I was not that afraid and we sat together in the haunted house ride as well but we all had a great time since a month ago but I was on the other rides at knoebels and I really loved some of the rides and I didn't like the Black diamond at all but I was so very scared and everything and we had lunch too but when the day ended, we had to take Preston home after that and we said goodbye to him for coming to knoebels with me and my Family but that was so nice that he came but that was very sweet of him but I really like Preston Koch so much!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
