The real difference in price is way more than 10K when you consider Haval has panorama sunroof, 360 degree camera and much larger interior and boot. If I have a big family then I will go for Haval. Or for Kona money I will go with H6 ultra AWD.
I own a Jolion My friend has a kona She loves my car It is in fact quieter than Kona More leg room I am. Averaging 7.4 litre /100 Mine was $27990 drive away Kona was $42000 drive away
Yes I saved $14k and it’s going better than ever Quieter than previous xtrail and more midrange torque I have done nearly 6000klm no issues Screen is easy to use when you’re used to it
@@brume2011 Jolion is a no brainer, the Kona doesn't look like nor does it have the space of an SUV, Jolion has a way better design, both interior and exterior plus way more room and loads more tech, a better car in every way. If you have more money just go for the H6, even better and a bigger difference.
its like how Huawei came in and showed us that Apple and Samsung had been overcharging us. Now we see that cars are more expensive than they should be... Not to mention the racket that is optional extras! Haval won this
But remember that if HAVAL gets good sales figures, they will join the club of expensive cars.. Just like Huawei did. Haval is in the phase of market penetration, that's why the prices are so low.. Enjoy while it's still like that. In Brazil HAVAL will launch the JOLION and the H6 by the end of the year and their manufacturer will start producing locally mid 2023. I'll definetely buy a JOLION, thanks to all SA and aussie reviews. Have a good one.
I have a Huawei phone and Hisense t.v and a Haval. China makes my life easier because they save me so much money and the quality of their products is A1. Don't let USA politics fool you like they fooled the world with WMDs. Good luck China
$42k drive away for the Kona makes it 35% more expensive than the Haval yet you compare the running cost? You get to drive the Jolion for free for 4 years for the difference in price...? I will take 4 years free driving any day.
Hyundai and Kia are way overpriced these days for the quality you get. Hyundais particularly feel very plasticky. I sat in the Jolion and test drove it. It's far better than anything of the same and even higher price from Hyundai. Haval have shown that every other carmaker is ripping consumers off and that they are all overpriced.
Even before I watched the review, I knew the reviewer were going for a preset opinions on the cars (even so after the interior part): Chinese car, cheap with more gadgets but less refinement. Sometimes I wonder whether these reviews are complete waste of time. The subjective assessment parts are not the actual situation, but just prejudice. I mean how good and professional can these reviews be!
@@ekgcanadianenthusiast9961 The reviews in my country didn't show the Kona is so much better than the Haval. Sales figure further confirmed that. Probably not paid but maybe a great amount of prejudice.
will buy Havel just for that 360 degree camera. anyone in their right mind wouldn't go for Hyundai considering the price difference. compare apple to apple!
Own a Seltos (Kona's bigger twin bro) and test drove a Jolion as a potential buy for my wife. All I can say is the Jolion impressed me a lot. It's so much more car for the money. And while the drivetrain in my Seltos is more refined, several people who own Seltoses have had their 2.0l engines replaced due to oil burn and scratches in the cylinders. I've had to get the boot door repainted because it started to rust and have had a few niggles with the car since I bought it. The haval isn't perfect, but considering it's a lot cheaper I can forgive the clunky infotainment system, the lack of adjustment for the seatbelt hight or reach of the steering wheel. And sure 7dct and 1.5 turbo pair is not as refined as the 2.0 in my Seltos, but it's not that far or off and definitely not terrible.
when Hyundai/Kia were making cars 10-15 years ago, they just weren't good enough to compare with Japanese cars but now when Chinese cars hitting the market they're directly compared to Koreans..... the potential in the next decade will be mind blowing especially Chinese tech on electric cars are more advanced than Koreans
The challenge for me is whether I want to deal with a Chinese brand should I run into issues. That's a massive unknown. For context, I currently own both a Kia and Hyundai.
Hahaha to be honest, the conclusion feels like it had been made before the guy even looked at the Two cars. The breakdowns are added just so it doesn't feel like a paid advertisement. The bigger, sleeker, and more modern car with panoramic roof and 360 parking loses? And complaining about $100 difference in annual servicing when the price difference is over 10k? I think you need to rename your review, it's an Ad!
That is how we call "Made in index" You really know the reputation about "made in china". We dont mind cheap plastic product from China but Car is seriously different level.
@@skylack5790 go test drive both and feel free to pay more for the brand. Free world and personal choice and all that... Personally while I love my European cars, the next one will most likely be electric and I'll probably consider the Chinese brands. They are just miles ahead of everyone except Tesla, but the Teslas are made in China too so...
@@skylack5790 Cheap because you don't have money to buy an expensive one. Ask them to provide the most expensive one and they will provide it to you for sure.
@@skylack5790 That's funny cause made in China phones like Huaweis are way better than Made in Korea ones, just like how Chinese cars have way better quality and reliability without engines that catch on fire, so a better car for a cheaper price, there is no comparison.
How much did Hyundai pay for this video? Ask if anyone will choose the Kona's dated ugly 90s interior? Haval Jolion is a better car in every way AND it's over $10000 cheaper, a no brainer.
Thanks for the review & comparison. Wondering what was the reasoning behind comparing MSRP (exc onroad) against Drive Away (inc onroad) pricing. It doesnt seem like a like-for-like comparison. A like-for-like pricing comparison would be Kona's ~$42k drive-away Vs Jolion ~$31k drive-away. Also one of the features that can be a deal-breaker for some is the 360 camera, which the Kona sadly doesnt have. Would love to see a Kamiq V Kona/Jolion comparison one day.
Kamiq would win :) I'm a Hyundai group fan and think that VAG cars are generally over priced but I think the Kamiq is truly an exception. I agree with Carsales that the Kona is the better between it and the Jolian but it does come at quite the cost.
Probably a deliberate 'mistake' made in favor of Hyundai. If Haval becomes a sponsor of the channel, then this type of mistakes will become rarer and rarer.
I’m sold on the haval, the difference for the price is a no brainer. There’s only a matter of time till the stigma on these manufactured vehicles is broken, let’s face it, it’s not long ago that Hyundai weren’t looked upon too favourably also.
I had a test drive with the Haval Jolion, it was a smooth experience. But I have to disagree with you about the seating, I found it to be comfortable front and back
Exterior and interior wise h6 is one class above that ugly Kona. Price wise two classes above... This guy cant be serious.. credibility go down the drain...
This guy just likes the Hyundai man the jolion is way more spacious and the jolion is worth the price but the Hyundai is not so people just get the jolion if you are looking for a mid price car
Kona (base) starts from $29000 and Active is quite decent at around $32000 driveaway. I went to check unfortunately test drive was not available then. I got in and found out the headroom in Kona is pretty small and black interior makes it look small, and those space saver tyres are pathetic, I think that should be illegal as it is very unsafe to travel on those suicidal tyres. I would say charge us a bit more but install full size spare. Jolion is a great looking car too for the price range but Ancap safety rating is still not available. Hope I would be able to buy Kona in few months and will try to upload a video on how it is. 😁
The Hyundai is a better car, I think it looks nicer and I'm sure it is better to drive but it isn't as good value for money, the difference is cost is immense. I think this should have been a comparison between the lower trim Kona Active variant vs the Jolian Ultra. The cars listed here are the Kona Highlander which has an estimated drive away price for my postcode of 41,982.35 compared to the Jolian Ultra's 30,990 driveaway price, that's $11k difference or one third of a Jolian.
Let's compare the kona with a BMW X3 then. It starts at 60k which is only 50%, right? The BMW is a better car, and gets 10% better fuel economy, and has a better entertainment system and definitely better handling. Sure its 50% more, but No big deal according to the logic here... The BMW wins!
Both of them are pretty good and i can not lie, i was thinking about both of them. But then, dealership (Haval) showed me the H6 with 2.0 turbo petrol engine and i just fell in love with it. Chinese really stepped up the game and for daily drives, those "differences" like "this is tighter, this feels more premium" do not matter that much :) the cars are new and will serve you well. You cant go wrong
Heads up , Hyundai today just sent out messages to announce a recall for all Hyundai vehicles 2018-2020 because piston oil rings are not safe . May result risking fire in engine . Another reason again after several recalls with Kia’s and Hyundai . Many of these vehicles may have to have engines replaced . Shows more and more just because it’s Korean doesn’t mean quality. Just sit in a Hyundai and feel how cheap the quality is was already a no from me but their list of issues grows every month
Engine recall for catching on fire for models from 2011-2016, Samsungs exploding, LG bootloop+endless issues, Samsung Galaxy Fold that broke in masses even before release, when has Korean ever meant quality? Major Chinese brands have way better quality.
Sorry what? It is litterally 30% more expensive yet the better buy? It should be Compared to the full spec H6 for $38,990 which is much better buy than the Kona and is still $4,000 cheaper....
That outcome was very surprising - point after point for the Jolion only to declare the Kona the winner that easily without a real explanation kinda makes it seem like this whole exercise was a waste of time and petrol bc it had a predetermined outcome. I don’t think there is a single sensible person who would go for the Kona with that price compared to the Jolion
Other chinese companies like Ceery or great walls had to recall their product as carcinogenic asbestos were found in parts in 2012 and Haval falied to pass ANCAP test in 2016.I think now is too soon to buy Chinese car.Maybe at least another 10 years later when their concept about safety and business ethics is mature enough.
Most of the steel used by Great Wall Motors is military steel. The rigidity of the whole car is much better than Hyundai cars. The production cost of Korean cars is very low, If you want to spend more money on a car made of paper, then you should choose a Korean car. Just like a mobile phone, if there is no Chinese mobile phone, the price of a Samsung mobile phone can fly to the sky. Without the protection of the big tree of the United States, Korean industry will be nothing. The only industry in the world that dares to confront the United States head-on in industry is Chinese industry!
