Cuba is a beautifully country full with very nice people. A lot of people blame everything on Fidel Castro, but they forget the cuban people were in favor of the revolution, it was the cuban people the ones to blame for what happen. The rich cubans in miami are probably much worse, they are the only ones in favor of the embargo. Everytime the U.S. try to establish relations with Cuba the cubans from miami use all their political power to stop it. All the things happening in Cuba is because of the cubans in cuba and the cubans in miami.
Not 1959. More like '56 or '57.................... I know. I lived there. The rice hit the fan in '59, we left in early February and by that time the streets were nearly vacant.
Thank you for sharing this, one day when the Castro regime falls, Cubans like me will use these videos to restore Cuba to a pristine condition, even though I am only 16, I will try my best to restore the Cuba my grandfather was born in.
This is everything communist and socialist will never be able to do! Cuba was amazing! We actually were well on our way to become a great country and Havana would have been the best city in Latin America no doubt! And yet communist stole everything and ruined it. VIVA CUBA LIBRE!!!!!!!
Wow, just wow. The fighting down in the comments is ridiculous. Look, I agree that Batisia was a dictator, but what the revolution did was replace one dictator with another, and that's final. Also, LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC AND THE CONSTIUION OF 1940!
This is a jewel of a video , along with the other 3 videos 1) Cuba before Fidel Castro's communist revolution by raulasanchez 2) Cuba before Castro. wmv by USA/ Havana ; 3)La Habana anios 50 calle 23 Vedado 1/2 y 2/2 by Maikel307 . Shows how Cuba was under capitalist , in spice of the political chaos and the civil war going on.
This was possibly made before The communist take over. But both Baptista and Castro hurt Cuba.Years ago i read Gasoline and other necessities were black marketed
At the beginning of the film, the Roman numeral date indicates that the film was made in 1959, the first year of Castro's government. 1959 was the last full year of legal capitalism in Cuba; the economy was centralized beginning in July of 1960. The film does not advertise gambling in Cuba, because Castro banned gambling soon after achieving power in January 1959.
End the embargo. End sanctions. Allow Americans to more freely go and visit for tourism. Don’t let less than 1% of the US population (Cuban-Americans) dictate what US policy towards Cuba should be.
In 1959/1960 Cuba had hardly changed at all, in spite of the new government. At that time, even those who later left, people were in love with the Revolution. By 1961 things took a different turn, but still Havana and the rest of the country looked the same as before 1959. Changes, both good and bad, took place as the government allied with the USSR and the US became an open adversary, Bay of Pigs included.
