Havanese Dogs 101: Everything You Need To Know 

My wife and I inherited a 2-year-old female. She is quite entertaining and stands on her hind legs, runs through the house in a blur and makes these unbelievable leaps while running from the floor to the back of the couch in one fluid move. She loves lying on the deck in the sun but hates the winter and the cold. Scratches her bowls if she wants food and water and has a tiny whimper to get your attention that you think she's on the verge of speech. Oh yeah....no shedding.

We love ours. Very lovable.

My wife is disabled and in a wheelchair....we live in a tiny 15 foot long camper . Our havanese goes with us everywhere . She stays sitting in my wife's lap when out unless I get her down. She rarely ever barks and when she does it's to get the attention of one of her playmates (dogs, cats, people)or when one of her toys gets stuck where she can't get it. She sleeps with us every night and takes turns who she sleeps on , sometimes changing through the night but she almost never wakes us up when doing so and I'm an extremely light sleeper. She has learned things on her own like fetch and picking things up off the floor that we dropped ....we didn't teach her these things at all. I've owned many dogs and other animals and she is by far the smartest , most loving , well behaved and entertaining pet ive ever had. Weekly baths and brushing and trip to groomer every 3 to 4 months ($30-$40full groom) and she stays wonderful.
