Welcome to another art school vlog! If you’re new here, my name is Saskia and I’m currently studying my Bachelor of Fine Arts here in Sydney, Australia. I’m majoring in painting creating realistic portraits. Thank you SO much for clicking on this video, this week I prep and paint a NEW PAINTING that I have been working on for about a month!! Painting goes through a lot… and so do I…. so I’m glad you have come along on this journey with me  Wait till the end to hear my final thoughts. Please let me know what you think or have experienced anything like this yourself I would love to know 💜

 How I created panels:
Marine grade plywood
Battens cut down to size to frame plywood
Glued with wood glue on the backs of the wood around the edges, left with weights on top to hold overnight (or the recommended 24 hrs) 

I get so excited when you post. I think k the painting can be salvaged. Don't be hard on yourself - you're doing so well! I love the painting so far. But I also understand the feeling - been there a few times. You're amazing!!!

I loved you going through how to make large scale panels in a more budget friendly way, I definitely want to try this! I also really liked how open and honest you were at the end of the video about your thoughts and decisions on the painting. I absolutely love the painting and the concept, so I'll be excited to see how it turns out when you pick it back up 🙂 Good luck on your Graduation Show!! Can't wait to see what you work on and submit for it 💚

I don't see much wrong, the faces especially are fantastic, but its what you see that matters. You are very talented, but this painting just wasn't working out for you, that is how it goes sometimes. This happens to me regularly , though I have nowhere near your talent, and to all artists. For me I find that one of 2 things work. The first is to just forge ahead, it always comes right eventually, and you are too good for it not to. The second is leave it, do something else, then come back to it, when you can correct, or change the bits that aren't working. There is too much good in the painting to ditch it completely. You definitely haven't gone backwards. Believe in yourself. Whichever route you take it will come good.
