At the rated 203Wh/km consumption. 11Kw of charge (that's what you get when you charge for 1 hour at 11KWh) you should get about 54 km of range for your 1 hour charging session.
Being an EV owner myself, I have never seen such electronically operated barriers on charging stations, what a cool thing to stop dicks from parking at a charging spot. 11 kWh charging is pretty common with the Type 2 plug, but some stations support also 22 kWh, depending on the system. The DC charging is for the fast charging which you can use to charge up your car from 50 kWh all the way to like 300 kWh per hour, although 100 kWh would be the maximum what you can find nowadays on a larger scale. Some cars like mine have the Japanese style plugs Type 1 and CHAdeMO and they are becoming less and less common, so because of this I had to buy an adaptor from Type 2 to Type 1 and a whole cable which I insert into a Type 2 wallbox and then into my Type 1 car. Compared to paying like RM 9 or 10 for a litre of petrol 95 or diesel, I spend like maybe RM 2 for a kWh of electricity at a more pricier fast charger, or I go and pay RM 1.20 for a slower charger. Some supermarkets and IKEA offer here free charging for their customers and that's also a pretty good deal if you have to charge your car while running some errands. All in all, I am very content that I did the switch to sell my petrol powered manual hot hatch for a fully loaded econobox with auto and electric engine. Much cheaper than the super expensive public transport anytime. For longer trips? I either charge up my car at a fast charger and have a break for 20-30 minutes and I drive my car at around 90-100 km/h, put it in B mode with maximum recuperation. Also I turn off the aircon and heating if not needed. Heated and cooled seats help to lower the electricity consumption too. However, if doing some sort of trip going over 200 km, I am not picking my car, I'd pick a car of my other family members. EVs are good for now only if you got a landed property with your own driveway and porch where you can install a wallbox and charge your car there, but if you live in a condo, rented property or low cost housing, then GG liao.
U live in Singapore? A litre of ron95/ euro 5 diesel is only RM2.05/RM2.35 respectively. U won’t save money driving an EV over a regular ICE in Malaysia. Also, u mentioned switching off the aircon to save range. You know how hot Malaysia can be right? Don’t save pennies over ride comfort man.
Nope, I live in Switzerland. The electricity there is one of the cheapest in Europe and you can literally save a whole lot of money by driving an EV. I am fully aware that EVs in Malaysia are toys for the wealthy who can become a bit greener by producing less noise when driving, but with electricity generation in Malaysia they surely won't. Yes I do that most of the time, but my climate offers this opportunity. However, even here it can get 35 °C and I think having a good quality tint would be the best investment, just that anything workmanship related here is expensive af.
You are actually paying for the parkeasy parking. Parkeasy partners with Shell to provide complementary charging. At least, that's my experience using parkeasy at ioi city mall. A non ev car can also technically park at these charging bays.
5:58 Wow.....that lorry should be at kampungs that near to forest and small old towns... Not insulting people intelligence by screaming loud in BIG CITY....😂🤣😂🤣 Yeah big waste of public funds..
Charging time is an issue, if travelling long distance outstation is not convenient having to wait charging for 30mins - 1hr...waiting for a better propositions...
Not sure for everyone else, but if I'm doing a long distance trip (Let's say Ipoh to JB), I typically stop once or twice for about 20-30 minutes at a time anyway.
@@germaineliew2012 Thks for sharing yr experience... Im thr type that wants to drive direct to destination without stopping especially if Raya or CNY where R&R is full... And hassle of finding a charge station before coming back kl.. Im not sure a full charge would take how long :(
Ya lor, who so boliao to wait 30mins (Tesla supercharger) for 200km range. And Tesla supercharger is among the quickest charging among the EVs. 5mins is all it takes to refuel 70L in an ICE car with spare for a toilet break.
@@germaineliew2012 thing is what if the charging stations are occupied and there are 2 cars waiting. Usually there are 2-3 charging lots. U wanna wait 2h for the 2 cars to recharge?
