Have Patience When Flying  

Great idea! I'll never forget the gate agent at Reagan International when I was flying on to Boston. Everyone was frazzled trying to get another connection. I went up the lady and she was as calm as a cucumber. I told her "You know something all these other people don't know, don't you?" She said it didn't do any good to get all frazzled since getting all upset wouldn't solve anything and could end up making things worse.

So last year I was flying from ONT connecting in PHX to MKE. The plane coming to ONT was from LAS and the gate agent lied saying there was a weather delay and that anyone with a connecting flight would miss it. Because of my job, I have the inside track on some of this, so I called her on what was most likely what she was told to say. In reality it was once again, a shortage of crew. She quietly apologized and got me on another ride to PHX, which I had to run through the airport, and thank heavens for those mobile carts as he whisked me over to the next terminal. They held the flight. So yes, while being nice does often get better results than being a total JA, it's also nice to hold an ace sometimes...while still being a decent human being!
