Any team would be over the moon if you told them they would be up 3-1 in the cup final. Its almost like we are disrespecting the Panthers for not sweeping, its strange. If the Oil win game 5 maybe we can begin to sort of think reverse sweep, but lets be honest lets see how game 5 goes first.
Thanks for giving us the stories discussed. I considered listening to the Oilers story but chose to tune out when I saw Marner's name come up. Is there a difference between being "contractually obligated" and OD's on Kool-Aid. I may be Canadian but I don't have to listen to Leafs talk. Come and talk when they win a Cup.
That 8-1 win looked like game 1 but the puck went in i think now that Edmonton got going there going to go on a run like they did in the season if a team can come back its Edmonton i think they do it and there is a game 7 i think Edmonton has looked like the best team .
ABC News headline : "Panthers better prepared to hoist Stanley Cup after Game 4 loss" So I guess they'll be SUPER prepared when they're back in Edmonton for Game 6.
The Leafs are stuck with Marner as he isn't going to waive his clause as is his right. Crazy to think that the Leafs consider themselves stuck with Marner that they want gone, but are thrilled to have Matthews at 13.25 mil. Completely backwards in Toronto.
Everyone talks about how Florida had to lose before they could win, but what about Vegas? Yes they had a monster squad but they just showed up and won.
Tavares' 11.5 comes off the books next year. Brodies' 5.5 this year, Bertuzzi's 5 this year...the cap is also going up from 82 to 87, so there's another 5M...The prudent thing to do would be to let Marner play his contract out and decide from there whether or not to extend him...If not then, as you've said...cap space ain't nothing
Game 4 strengthened Bob's case for MVP should the Panthers win, not weaken it, unless you're leaning towards McDavid. That game showed that if Bob isn't on top of his game, Florida gets caved in.
I almost fell off my chair when Ren actually thought Brady could go to NY. It ain't happening before his long term contract is up. Horrible take. Why on earth would the Sens trade their captain?
@@H3_535 Nope I am not thinking about that at all. You Oilers fans can think about all that if you want. You ain’t beating this team three more times in a row
@@Powell19119 lol, you're trying to equate cup wins when there was 6 teams to those that have double digit teams? Not only that, but the league had policies that inherently gave Canadian teams a huge competitive advantage over the American teams? Come on now, open your eyes.
@@Powell19119 No, I'm serious. Go look at the wikipedia for the original 6 teams and you'll understand why they absolutely should not be considered the same as those championships won with more than just the 6 teams in the league. Just a clip, "It was not a coincidence that two of the dominant teams were based in Canada, and the third was based in an American city that borders Canada. The league had a rule that gave each team exclusive rights to negotiate contracts with promising local players within 50 miles (80 km) of its home ice." I suspect 99% of fans don't know about this as it's not something that is widely mentioned. Kinda makes the current Canadian team drought for cups seem a payback for past injustices.
@@Marixa1979 Context bro. Numbers are numbers. If you wanna to take percentages one could say 1994-2022/23 is three decades. When do you say your so called payback range is? You mention cap first. Bettman introduced cap in the NBA. Same with the NHL. Add the lockouts. Simple stats of playoff appearances and cup wins and you’ve stretched the goal posts (context) to suit YOUR narrative. Using the Bettman numbers 0-30 means a Canadian team is MATHEMATICALLY due to win a cup. Keyword: “Mathematically” aka “stats”. Do whatever you want with suppositions and interpretations. Personally I know Bettman is keen to make hockey more popular wherever possible. It’s pretty obvious Canadians and Lord Stanley (who’s in my distaste family tree btw lol) aren’t going to abandon hockey fandom even Timbits ages ago
Tuby Ben says we've gotta hold on to what we've got, It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not, We've got each other and that's a lot for s***, We'll give it a shot! Whoa, we're half way there Whoa oh, livin' on the gifted POWERPLAY Take my hand, we'll win the Cup, I swear (NOT!) Whoa oh, livin' on the gifted POWERPLAY!
2011 Final, Canucks were up 2-0 lost game 3 8-1.. was a turning point in that series. Boston would go on to win the Cup in Seven games. not exactly same scenerio here. but it's worth noting.
sorry you are giving Bob way too much credit - majority of the shots were at his chest and pads - in game 4 Oilers were hitting the targets and Bob couldn’t stop those shots - in all the 40+ years I’ve watched Stanley Cup playoffs a goalie hasn’t won the Conn Smythe after a performance like Bob had in game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals (the last series for the cup)
Marner might not win us a Stanley Cup but he is a damn good player and we are lucky to have him. I hope he plays out his entire career as a Leaf and we walk him into the HHoF..
If Marner isn’t playing with Matthews, his numbers will likely suck because as we all know, he can’t create his own shots. Yes he circles on the outside very well…but that’s about it.
Have the Mavs found the formula? They blew out the Celtics in game 4, just like the Oilers blew out FLA. Find out tonight what MAY happen tomorrow night!
The analytics said Game 1 should have been won by the Oilers and Bob stole that game. The Oilers cracked Bob and the score reflected the win that they should have had in game 1. The Panthers are scared. Why else would they embarrass themselves playing the lame duck barely able to move trying to draw major penalties and getting the Oilers tossed from the game.
Breaking a Wayne Gretzky record can be Edmonton's Stanley Cup. They can talk about this year's to come. Didn't win a Cup but how about that McDavid record.
Dudes crying about everything. Like i get buddy you love the change on a icing when, like HUH just take icing out then if your crying about the no change.
Can we get this over… I’ll tell you what. I’ll not tune in. Go talk golf. Pay no mind that you are sportsnet a Canadian broadcaster. No go talk about other stuff. All good.
Did that first guest have money on Bobrovsky? Barkov has been awesome all playoffs and would have my vote for Conn Smythe as of rn. The betting markets have Bob and Barkov almost dead even in terms of odds btw
Skinner is extremely shaky..... unfortunately the Oilers are done.... Bobrovsky is gonna stand in his head and it's gonna be a matter of a few goals (like 1 or 2) and Skinner can't do that at this time
Oil got a free game. Would have helpes them fsr better if wasnt such a bad game with lne team not ahowing up. Mayne woild have glt in nasty pa.thers head. But likely just pissed them them.off so....atleast oilers won a game. All gravy and lesaons flr them. ...leta be honest
I'm just screwing with u stranger...these screens r ur world . Nkt mine. My fst ass thumbs and impatience of text and keyboards means nothing. But my grandkids and.oldest one just nailed math exams one with 98 and last week 100...so dlnt be so shallow. Hockey in my blood for 5 decades....k dude. Gid bless :)
I have a question if the roles were reversed and the Panthers won 8-1 and the Oilers were up 3-1 would Oiler fans say the same thing, as a Panthers fan I'd just be hoping we can win another game
@@Mattoilers97 He might live in his parents basement but you don't have to cry. Dallas Mavericks blew our Boston in Game 4 of NBA. How's that working out for them? Lets see how cocky you are tomorrow night. Florida had their worst game. They usually come back with their best game. At lease your PP got going, you scored on a 2 minute two man advantage. Florida and Edmonton have played 6x this year. Florida is 5-1. I am pretty sure you will be crying tomorrow
Florida wants to win at home....Florida can beat Oilers when they want. Is it fixed to win at home....wait and see....diapointed Canadian...yes...our Canadian " game".... Fixed !
Sammy called this. Except he said Oilers would win game three, not game four. But still. Sammy saw what I didn’t see: which was Skinner being below .900% three games in a row. That’s the difference.
